RAW- Risk & Architecture Workshop is a non


profit organization formed by young architects
and architecture students.
Within the main goal to elaborate new visions
on the citys development after a major disaster,
we enquire the role of risk management
practices in relation with architectural
conception and urban planning.

Summer 2011: workshop "Resilient Ishinomaki 1"
supervised by Geoffrey Grulois, professor at the Free University of Brussels (ULB)
Summer 2012: workshop Resilient Ishinomaki 2
supervised by Geoffrey Grulois, professor at the Free University of Brussels (ULB)
-Meetings with international experts
-Cultural exchanges between students
-Getting in touch with local administration and citizens
October 4th 2012: Report on the "Resilient Ishinomaki2" was held in Embassy of Japan in Belgium
December 2012: A few students join her and decide to create this project
January-March 2013: First contacts, definition of the objectives
and concrete organisation of the workshop
April 2013: RAW, non-profit organization is officially formed
Present: Project exposure, organization of the first event

Accommodation: Coach surfing/camp in the stadium/camping (To define with the city hall)

about Rochefort heritage and its future, Team division

9am-2pm : Visits of the chosen site + another site (free choice)

8 pm: First Sketch / concept Presentation

Monday, 16th

9-12am Work session


12-1pm lunch
1pm-3 pm : City Hall and Urban Service presentation of current policies to manage risk
2 pm : Work session
After diner (around 9pm): Presentation group 1 and 2
9am Work session

Tuesday, 17th

1-2 pm: Short presentation Memory as a tool to prevent risk

Before diner: Presentation group 3 and 4
After diner work session
10 am: First draft Project, power point (half an hour per group)

Wednesday, 18th = mid term

Guests: Urban Service Architects- Local citizens


Afternoon: Optional complementary visits
Evening, short presentation: Technical solutions to fight flood and marine submersion

1-2pm: Short presentation on Architect added value to urban strategies on risk


management, toward a new productive urbanity
