OVERVIEW
This August, EnglishCentral will be making some changes to the way students learn on EnglishCentral. These changes will dramatically improve the experience of learning English on EnglishCentral. This will not affect the class page, student progress and reports or any LMS features. The major changes are: A redesigned video player with improved performance and functionality Vocabulary quizzing within the player (except course video lessons) Modal instructions in the side bar of the video detail page and 1,2,3,4 pathway A new progress tracking ribbon at the top of every page Automatic favoriting of words and populating of the vocabulary quiz
FEATURE CHANGES
The progress ribbon Students now gain experience points for each video lesson studied. Persistent view of progress ribbon at the top of every page
Experience points are awarded for completion of each part of the video lesson.
A new start screen. Students can click any word to study it. Selected words will be added to the final vocabulary quiz.
SPEAK Interactive display and prompt to speak, mid screen. Students prompted to rerecord for lines with low scores (red or yellow) Compare button appears for low scored spoken lines
QUIZ VOCABULARY Students get credit (meet goals) for words learned in the quiz Quiz now fully integrated in the player (except for course video lessons) Improved start screen showing study words (both set and selected by student)
MODAL SIDE BAR NAVIGATION Students can easily navigate sections of each video lessons Students can clearly see the points acquired for each video lesson Students can see their finished result for Speak and Quiz
Final screen indicates total score of the quiz and prompts for the next video. Students will have to use their browsers return button to return to the class page to study the next video selected by the teacher.
