’s was a constant companion this year. It is a collection of 100 stories that Miller believes are amongst the finest’s sparse and intricate disturbing and utterly engrossing. ’s was this year’s revelation. The cover calls this a collection of fictions but to my delight, many of the pieces in this book defy easy categorization as they can be read as prose or poetry.

The Aspen Words Literary Prize was awarded yesterday to Tayari Jones for An American Marriage, at a ceremony in New York City. The prize, which operates out of the Aspen Institute, awards $35,000 annually to “an influential work of fiction that illum
