Some great games have been produced in previous versions of GameMaker Studio, including Hyper Light Drifter, Spelunky, Hotline Miami, and Super Crate Box. GameMaker Studio 2 is the latest incarnation, which its developer says has everything you need to take your idea from concept to finished game, with supposedly no barriers to entry. So is GameMaker Studio 2 really the ultimate 2D development environment, or is it just one more tool that’s almost there but not quite?
