'Jerome Robbins 100' Is A Centennial Celebration Of Timeless Choreography
Robbins directed and choreographed many of Broadway's biggest hit musicals, including West Side Story. Now, New York City Ballet, the company he helped co-found, is throwing a festival in his honor.
In 1943, two 25 year olds — Jerome Robbins and Leonard Bernstein — were about to rock the ballet world. The dance they collaborated on was Fancy Free — about three sailors in a bar, trying to meet women before they ship out to World War II.
