Think Kangaroo Island, and you think furry critters: kangaroos and koalas, sea lions and spiky echidnas. This tranquil island off the South Australian coast is known as one of the best places in the entire country to go wildlife spotting, with one-third of the island covered with national and conservation parks.

There is more to the island than a wildlife haven, however. Kangaroo Island supports an impressive number of passionate farmers and artisanal manufacturers.
