You Are My Sunshine

The inspiration for this delightful baby quilt came to Louise from the Grandmother’s Fan block and its versatility. This lovely, happy sunshine shape is meant for a baby — the square quilt shape allows it to also be used as a playmat. Techniques used include hand piecing, machine piecing, needleturn appliqué and hand quilting with Perle thread.

The instructions are provided for piecing the sun block by hand. If you prefer to machine piece it, simply add a ¼in seam allowance around each of the patterns before making your templates. After tracing around the templates, cut out these shapes on the traced lines.

This delightful baby quilt has been hand quilted using thread and larger-than-normal stitches. The centre circle was echo quilted with The face has been quilted in the middle — the on the pattern sheet.
