The Lok Sabha 2019 polls is one of the more confusing elections seen in the past four decades. With a flailing economy, dried up industries, lack of clarity in numbers for unemployment and economic growth, to say who will eventually prevail – the BJP or the Congress – is a difficult decision.

Election campaigns are a battle of narratives. In 2009, it was the UPA's MNREGA versus the NDA's promise of decisive leadership. In 2014, it was the NDA promising develo­pment versus a UPA battling anti-incumbency, policy paralysis and corruption.
