The comfort zone

NEVER HAS AN ISSUE filled with such comforting food been produced in the midst of so much discomfort.

Personal challenges have a way of compelling you take stock or, in my case, to make stock. The smell of chicken broth simmering quietly on the stove never fails to lift my spirits.

I have made of chicken stock this month. Just the simple act of recycling Sunday’s roast chicken carcass, adding vegetables and bay leaves from the garden and letting it all bubble away for hours, warming the house with its magical aroma makes me feel calm.
