John Wade's article in AP 20 April, is a real breath of fresh air in today's world of auto-focusing, exposure control and multiple programs. Today even a modern professional camera can be reduced to a point and shoot, leading to some pretty dire results, as Eric Anderson mentions in his letter in the same AP issue. I found it good to be reminded of the basics that my father taught me 60 years ago – though, with increasing age, I do appreciate the autofocus and not having to carry my old Weston light meter for exposure checking.
