About this audiobook

Agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock must protect the life of a young political speechwriter in this New York Times bestseller in Catherine Coulter’s FBI Thriller series.

A senior speechwriter for the governor of New York, Becca Matlock is at the top of her professional game when she receives a disturbing phone call that threatens everything: “Stop sleeping with the governor or I’ll kill him.” The thing is, she’s not sleeping with her boss, but that fact doesn’t stop the calls from the man who refers to himself as her “boyfriend.”

When her stalker murders an innocent in New York City and the governor is shot in the neck, Becca comes under suspicion and takes off for the sanctuary of Riptide, an isolated community on the coast of Maine. But she soon finds herself at even greater risk...

FBI special agents Savich and Sherlock are in Riptide to help out an old friend of Savich’s father, and soon become embroiled in Becca’s deadly situation. But as enemies new and old circle closer, time is running out for them all.

This was a thriller that I could not put down. Nothing seemed to go right for Becca Matlock. She was receiving anonymous phone calls, the police would not believe her. Then the NY governor was shot in the neck. She flees to NYC, sees a woman blown up after receiving another call. This time the police think she is either crazy seeking attention or behind the attacks. Her mother is dying of cancer. Her option was to flee to Riptide, Maine, home of a college friend who lives with his 4-yr. old son, Sam. The caller traces her there and continues his stalking. A skeleton falls out of a wall. The town's sheriff is a 'good, ole boy" type. A mysterious "cousin", Adam, arrives to help her sent by a mysterious "Thomas". Finally, FBI agents Savich and Sherlock enter the picture. It was assumed that Krimakov, was behind this but he reputedly died in Crete. Was it him that was cremated?

A classic on my bookshelf and it was nice to be able to listen to it while I paint. The male voice narration wasn’t great but that didn’t bother me ultimately! Give it a try!
