Better than the last one as it wasn't slow in parts. It just didn't have the real funny parts that I am wanting. It was sweet, fast, fun, and predictable after the first half. Liked it, didn't love it or REALLY like it. Will probably forget most of it after a bit.

Posted on Romancing the Book's blogReviewed by PattiReview Copy Provided by the PublisherThe Argeneau series has been one of my favorites for a long time. I love the way Lynsay Sands characters interact with each other. In every book there are references or glimpses of characters from stories I’ve read before. Old favorites popping up always make me smile. Every time I read one of these stories I know I am going to go on a journey. I laugh, smile, sigh, cry, and sometimes get angry or even nervous. There are so many different personalities, some so incredibly endearing that you know they just have to get their happy ending or you will scream to the really obnoxious ones that you can’t believe anyone would even tolerate long enough to give them a chance. Paul was such a great guy, how can you not love a guy that would do anything to save his dying daughter? Jeanne Louise is such a sweet, loving woman all I wanted was for her to get everything she wanted. Livy is such a darling little girl it was heartbreaking to read her suffering. I wanted to scan through the book to make sure everyone gets their happy ending but I didn’t want to miss anything so I had to force myself to slow down. I kept thinking I knew what would happen and then I would not be so sure. If you follow the Argeneau’s like I do you will want to read this one. If you like romance and vampires I would definitely recommend you give this a try.

A good story even though it was a bit more serious than the rest of the series. I liked how the relationship developed, the fathers devotion to his daughter and facing their difficult dilemma Immortal Jeanne Louise is kidnapped by mortal Paul because he has a pressing need for a vampire.

I am a fan of this series and I have read every single book. In fact as soon as this was downloaded into my Kindle I read it. I gobbled it up in less than one day and was left wanting more. The Lady is a Vamp deals with a widower situation. For very personal reasons I hate reading widower stories. They are usually the most unromantic stories ever written. I have to hand it to Ms. Sands for not going that route. While this story was a bit more somber than her others, it was no less entertaining. The plot twists and the romance made me not want to put it down. Now please don’t be intimidated that this is the 17th book in the Argeneau series. I know I started reading this series after ten books were already released. They are honestly quick and enjoyable reads and I highly recommend them to anyone who loves a light-hearted vampire romance.

The Lady Is a Vamp – Lynsay SandsThis long running series could be getting stale and tired, but I found that with this book and the last one “Under a Vampire Moon” Ms Sands seems to be taking the series in several new directions. These directions are ones that I am whole-heartedly happy for. The last book was quite humorous as is a lot of Ms Sands novels. The “Lady is a Vamp” takes a bit more serious approach to what it means to be a vampire who falls in love with a mortal. It also delves into what a vampire can do for a mortal that is dying before her eyes.Jeanne Louise Argeneau has been kidnapped---that is it may be kidnapping only until she realizes that the kidnapper may be her beloved life partner. This is the most pleasant kidnapping I have ever read about!Paul Jones who has worked for the Argeneau Industries is in need of a vampire. That is, he is in need of a vampire to help his daughter who is dying of cancer. Now the Hunters are after them, Jeanne Louise is trying to slowly get Paul into a position to fall in love with her and while they are running, they must keep Livvy (Olivia) Paul’s daughter, from sliding anymore into her cancer. As I said this is a first for me with Ms Sands books. I don’t think I have ever read one that allows us to see anything but the best sides of being a vampire. However, Ms Sands pulls no punches with this book and I am quite glad she didn’t. I think I would have felt cheated if she tried to make anything less of a bad situation. This book contained some quite steamy sex scenes. I think the more books she writes the steamier some of them get. That is a very good thing. However, just because it’s steamy doesn’t take away from the romance and desperation of this novel. And desperate Paul certainly was. I mean why else would he risk kidnapping a vampire and facing the Hunters if he wasn’t truly desperate? Nevertheless, out of this desperation comes a truly unique, romantic and deeply felt love story.I hope you will enjoy this book as much as I did.

Review courtesy of All Things Urban Fantasy:allthingsuf.comTHE LADY IS A VAMP and I got off to a rocky start. Sands’s vampires experience the ennui of ages by losing appetites; food, sex, the passions of life start to fade away. Finding their intended life mate brings all of those senses back on line. When Jeanne Louise wakes up wrapped in chains with a strange man offering her food and water, my initial reaction was to assume that she was either insanely powerful or just plain addled when she had no normal fight or flight reactions to the situation. As the life mate signs start piling up, however, it is clear that her captor only poses a threat to her heart, not her health. Both characters soon begin to ignore the entire kidnapping scenario, and that’s where the awkwardness kicked into high gear. Let’s have a picnic (with a chain on your ankle). Daughter, eat your sandwich (with secret, mind-control help from Jeanne Louise). THE LADY IS A VAMP is a traditional romance told through the lens of Jeanne Louise’s powers, but that paranormal gloss wasn’t enough to get me interested in these particular tropes. Jeanne Louise isn’t really a prisoner, her secretive altruistic actions with Lily are a clear bid for a later “big misunderstanding” that never emerges, and while Lily’s illness provides the catalyst for Paul and Jeanne Louise’s enforced proximity, plotting a romance around a terminally ill child is too complex of an issue for me to comfortably ignore whenever Lilly is out of the room (or in the backseat).I would have liked the elements of Jeanne Louise’s alien nature better if the author had left it up to me to decide whether she was used her powers in a responsible fashion. Every instance where Jeanne Louise uses her mind control powers, Sands is in a hurry to point out that no one’s free will was “really” impacted. Lily needed to eat that sandwich, a lover doesn’t mind a nudge in the right direction, and those men Jeanne Louise prompted to come hit on her were going to do so anyway, honest. This is just one of many instances where plot and character points are spelled out so explicitly they lost all appeal. The first half of the book drags on and on with mundane day to day activities as the initial “kidnapping” is completely ignored by both Paul and Jeanne Louise. We know Jeanne Louise’s plans because she repeats them over and over, and if it weren’t for some good old fashioned REBECA-style “don’t ask, don’t tell”, these characters could have been at happily-ever-after by chapter three. After the slow beginning, there was a brief high point with enjoyable sex scenes and an unexpected plot twist, but those bright spots were soon buried under the avalanche of the next problem Jean Lousie and Paul start dancing around. The only thing more boring for an immortal than watching a mortal die day by day has to be reading through all the potential household accidents that could kill one.Despite a solid romantic foundation, THE LADY IS A VAMP annoyed me on multiple levels. Boomer, Shih Tzu Harbinger of Doom, was my favorite character, and the plot become infinitely more frustrating when all of the drama disappeared with some slight of the hand accounting from an outside power. Fans of the series will be happy seeing a known heroine get her happily ever after (and seeing past characters enjoying their immortality), but that wasn’t enough to keep me interested.Sexual Content: Several sex scenes.

While this started with one of my pet hates, kidnapping that turns to love, Sands manages to turn this trope around and present a story that charmed me. Jeanne Louise Argeneau is caught up in her work, but one day her routine is disrupted when a co-worker kidnaps her. He wants her to turn his daughter who is dying with a nasty inoperable, untreatable brain tumor. As he knows about immortals or vampires he knows the possibilities and he's at his wits ends what to do for his daughter, he's already lost his wife. When Jeanne Louise wakes she finds that she can't control him, he's her lifemate and when she finds what he wants she realises that she has a possible solution to the situation, but will Paul go for it?My heart did drop when I started to read this but the way it was handled was excellent and the book dragged me in until it finished. I liked it, liked the characters and the way the romance built.

I think I just fell in love with this latest release in this series. Definitely a bit different story line than the others, but with the same level of passion, adventure, danger and tender love scenes that will just break your heart, and bring a tear to your eye. The emotional aspect of the story was very strong and laid out in a way that could be felt strongly by the reader. The characters were charming and I couldn't help but fall in love. There were part that were humorous and I just burst out laughing throughout the book, and I think its at the top of my list of favorites by Sands. I really enjoyed the whole aspect of a kidnapping scenario, one that proved to be delighfully entertaining, and I enjoyed seeing the dilemma that was faced, the conflict that showed the meaning of true love and the strength it gives to those who trust in it, .....an marvelous romance!!!
