About this audiobook

Chilled is the second book in Bone Secrets, the multimillion-copy bestselling series.

As a forensic nurse on a search and rescue team, Brynn Nealey braves a dangerous blizzard to find the survivors of a plane crash in the Cascade Mountains. Joining her is Alex Kinton, a former US Marshal with self-destructive tendencies. Alex lies his way onto Brynn’s team to find the man who killed his brother—and then return the favor. But once the team members reach the plane’s wreckage, they discover everyone aboard has perished…except for the man Alex is hunting. Alex will do whatever it takes to track his target through the vast, snowy wilderness.

As the temperatures drop, however, so do Alex’s defenses. His contact with the sharp, kindhearted Brynn makes his lust for vengeance difficult to reconcile with his growing feelings for a woman who risks her life to help others. What will happen to Alex’s savage instincts when he finally has the opportunity to confront his brother’s killer?

In Chilled, the next thrilling tale in the Bone Secrets saga, Golden Heart finalist Kendra Elliot weaves an icy tale of cold nights, cold hearts, and cold-blooded killers.

This book is worth reading (or listening to an audiobook version). The characters are varied and well developed. The storyline has many threads - some of which go back into the past and some that overlap the past with the present. There was enough suspense - I really didn't know how it would end until the conclusion. I like the characters and look forward to reading more stories in the series, to see them develop their relationships further.

I almost skipped this book because I thought how non-exciting it would be to read about a rescue team in the snow. Wow, was I wrong! A true page turner.

A Search and Rescue team is braving a dangerous blizzard to reach a crashed plane in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon. This SAR team (known as “hasty team” as they make first dash to the victims) is composed of 4 members: Jim – Leader, Ryan – Navigator, Thomas – Alaskan with most overall experience, and Brynn – forensic nurse. Added to the team at the last moment is US Marshall Alex Kinton because one of the passengers was a felon being escorted by a US Marshall, who is considered dangerous. The mystery and suspense are hinted at from the beginning when is first introduced to the SAR team and he is definitely hiding his background, qualifications and reasons for joining the team, then from remarks the US Marshall escorting the prisoner makes to the prisoner that sent to me a verbal warning flag. And finally when Whittenhall reaches the jump off site and doesn’t know a US Marshall has joined the team and that his name was used to make it possible. From this moment I was hooked …Very well-written, smooth flowing style with characters that ring true to life. Very enjoyable!

When a plane crashes in the Cascade mountains, forensic nurse, Brynn Nealey and the rest of the SAR team are sent in to search for survivors. Along for the ride is Alex Kinton, a former U.S. Marshall determined to locate one of the passengers. With conflicting agendas and external forces working against them, the rescuers will have to utilize all of their skills if they are to survive the elements as well as a vicious killer.

This one is more of a thriller than romantic suspense. As a thriller it is exciting and action packed, but as a romance, it falls flat.

There is virtually zero chemistry between the hero and heroine, and what little there is feels forced and unrealistic. Moreover, neither one is particularly appealing as a romantic lead. Alex lies constantly about his agenda and his skills as U.S. Marshal are sorely lacking. Brynn fares somewhat better in her capacity as an SAR nurse, but is constantly sending mixed signals to her former lover while snuggling up to Alex.

The suspense elements are much better with a truly despicable villain and several exciting action scenes. The plot is reminiscent of the action film Shoot to Kill with Sidney Poitier, Tom Berenger and Clancy Brown about a criminal disguised as a hiker being chased through the mountains by an FBI agent - great movie!

In sum, although the romance is lackluster, Chilled is a well-written and well-plotted suspense novel. Recommended for those who prefer more action than intimacy in their romantic suspense.

These books are good. I can do without the romance in them. This one was about a plane crash in the middle of the mountains. Four people were on the plane, one survives, and it's the serial killer Darren B. The local Sheriff sends out rescue team for the plane and Alex Kinton gets on the team posing as a U.S. Marshal. Her used to be one but was fired /quit when he had an altercation with his boss Paul W. Darren killed Alex's brother before he went to prison. Alex is out for revenge, but being with the rescue team alters his views and he begins to have feelings for the nurse Brynn. The rescue team is out there in the mountains at the crash site and Darren is in the woods close by. Alex's ols boss may be hiding secrets. This all comes to a head.

A snowstorm in March. The rugged Cascade Mountains. A plane crash with two pilots, a US Marshal and a serial killer aboard. Brynn, a nurse on a search and rescue team, and her teammates have to try to see if there is anyone they can save. Former US Marshal Alex Kinton lies his way onto the team. He was fired as a US Marshal but he is convinced that the serial killer - Darrin Besand - killed his mentally handicapped brother. He is self-destructive and determined on revenge. As the team travels into the mountain they need to battle the weather and the rugged terrain to get to the plane crash. There they discover that the pilots and the Marshal are dead but Besand is missing. One of the team is hurt and the weather keeps them from leaving immediately. Alex wants to stay alone to search for Besand by Brynn isn't going to let that happen. She isn't going to leave him with a serial killer in the area. Add in an avalanche that almost kills Alex and causes the team to lose half their packs and the danger keeps increasing. Just to complicate things further Alex is convinced that someone in the Marshal's Office is trying to let Besand escape. The arguments Alex had with his superior about the lax guarding of Besand led to his being fired. And Alex is right. His corrupt superior officer has sent his own team of two Marshals into the mountains too with orders to kill Alex. This was is filled with tension and danger. Brynn, who has ended a relationship with someone who wants to smother her, is surprised to feel attraction to Alex. And when Liam - her smothering boyfriend - joins the group after he and his brother crash their helicopter while searching for the rescue team, she has to deal with the tensions between Liam and Alex. Fans of thrillers will enjoy this story and the budding relationship between Alex and Brynn. Watching Alex come to terms with his brother's death and become reacquainted with his values because of contact with kind and dedicated Brynn made this a very satisfying story. And Darrin is a really creepy villain. Being empty of emotion himself, he causes pain and kills so that he can feel something. He has been getting high off Alex's pain for a while but is determined to kill him now. Even on a hot August day, this one sent chills up my spine.

Author Kendra Elliot writes intelligent, capable, attractive heroines who bring back the original appeal that I first found as a young reader of romantic suspense. In "Chilled", Book 2 in the "Bone Secrets" series, Brynn Nealey is a forensic nurse, a highly dedicated professional in a field which includes care to victims of crime, such as sexual and other types of assaults, as well as collecting evidence, performing certain types of death investigations, and working with prison inmates. Assigned to lead a critical rescue team to the site of a downed US Marshal Service plane, Brynn is trained to collect vital material in matters relating to the law. Former US Marshal Alex Kinton maneuvers his way onto the team with an agenda of his own. Aboard that plane is the man whom Alex has sworn to eliminate, the man who murdered his brother. When Alex's prey turns out to be the only survivor, a new game begins and the rescue team finds themselves facing not just the killer cold, but the brutal mind of a murderer. Underneath Brynn's professional demeanor lies great warmth and compassion, and her inner sweetness begins to thaw Alex's hard-edged determination. Brynn is not immune to Alex's appeal, and soon the heat between them becomes a fire, but is it enough to overcome the odds against them? Another great all-night page-turner from Kendra Elliot! I am looking forward to more works featuring fantastic females from this talented author.Review Copy Gratis Amazon Vine
