Soon thereafter, a member of the ATF Situation Response Team is shot to death, followed by the sniper murder of a member of the Sheriff's Special Enforcement Bureau. At the request of the Mayor, the LAPD—an uninvolved and unbiased agency—assigns Shane to investigate. He is given an impossible deadline to find a solution before these two elite and deadly SWAT Teams kill each other off amid a hurricane of horrible publicity.       This book was such a good read. I could barely put it down and passed it on to my husband and daughter who are not avid readers. They both thoroughly enjoyed it as well. It was a nail biter and has many twists and turns. A few surprises along the way and kept me guessing.

      A Shane Scully novel, an LA sheriff's deputy is gunned down on the front porch of a house while serving a routine warrant. SWAT teams refers to doorways as "vertical coffins" because they are most vulnerable when passing through them.
