- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Wonderfull well read L shall never forget all I heard I may one day reread if all again,,
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The often-tragic tale of three young women – Joan Bennet, a stunningly beautiful blond; Jacqueline Bouvier, a classic beauty, the epitome of style and grace; and the average-looking but loyal Ethel Skakel – who marry three dashingly handsome brothers from a large and powerful dynastic family. Faithless almost from day one, the philandering brothers do as please with whom they please, their wives forced to accept the pain and heartbreak of blatant infidelity. The effects are devasting, especially for Joan who drinks herself into alcoholism. It takes decades for Joan, who loves Ted, to finally realize he feels absolutely nothing for her.
The Marilyn Monroe affair is confirmed when Jackie threatens divorce. This would ruin his political career so Daddy Warbucks (Joe Kennedy) steps in to negotiate a deal: 1 million dollars to stay in the marriage. She agrees but tells him, “if Jack brings home a venereal disease from one of his whores, the price will be 20 million dollars.” The deal is sealed.
The assassinations of Bobby and Jack are told with such vivid detail that it is difficult to hear. One must wonder, especially for Jackie, how you ever get over your husband’s brains spilling out into your lap while his blue eyes stare vacantly ahead…a vision that must have haunted Jackie all her days.
Despite the infidelities and the pain, it must have caused, all three women staunchly support their husbands’ political careers, playing dutiful wife and helpmate, never revealed in the many public images their personal torment.1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Engaging and informative. Very well developed characters and plot. Even though this a biography, the way it’s told plays out like a novel.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Good but dated. Kennedy story is whitewashed. The book discusses the well known scandals that everyone had heard of but avoids a great deal of the dangerous behavior of the Kennedy men.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This book read a bit like a gossip column...not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but when I finished, I didn't feel I'd really read a history book. It was fascinating, however, to read some of the intimate, lurid details of the family history, and to learn of the relationship among the sisters-in-law.
Four-stars seems a bit too much for this book, but I did really enjoy it. It was a relatively light, entertaining read about the Kennedy women.3 people found this helpful
