About this audiobook
In a rare look inside America’s favorite mega-sized family, the four eldest girls talk about their faith, their dreams for the future, and what it’s like growing up a Duggar.
Airing weekly throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand, 19 Kids and Counting has made the huge Duggar family into a media phenomenon. The Duggar children are frequently asked, “Tell the truth; do you really agree with the lifestyle your parents have created for you?” Now, the four eldest Duggar girls—Jana, Jill, Jessa, and Jinger—open up about the blessings and advantages of living the Duggar lifestyle.
With a backdrop of the key relationships in their lives—relationship with self, parents, siblings, friends, boys, and God—the four Duggar girls open up about their own personal faith and convictions, boys, dating, manners, living in a large family, politics, and much more. You’ll learn how the family navigates the difficult years between twelve and sixteen and what the girls look for in a man, all in a frank and fun audiobook that will inspire teens and adults alike. Including lighthearted stories about the younger kids’ antics, Growing Up Duggar is a wise and entertaining trip into a family like no other.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Oh my... Love their positivity and reassuring in their voices, but it seems like these girls were too controlled by the authorities. They always talk about obeying their parents and always having to be careful. I'll never subscribe to that kind of living. And they said on their book that they cannot say no to their parents but if they had to, they have to had a definite reason why. And it's so weird that their own liking by reading a book was not allowed stating that, it was not a benefit reason to say no and not obey your parents? Um sure to you but, that's too much. But well, It's a good book for 6 year olds. They'd learn good!
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This is such a weird book to read. On the one hand, they've actually got some good messages about inner vs. outer beauty. On the other hand, they have code words that allow the girls to protect their father/brothers from having to gaze upon 'immodestly dressed' women. Heartwarming and horrifying mixed into one.

I thought this book would be much more about the 4 girls talking about their family, childhood, growing up with their family dynamics, and what they are planning for their futures.
There were elements of this in the book. Each chapter has a topic and one or more of the girls would tell a short anecdote or two. But then it turned way too preachy for me.
This book wasn't so much about what it's like to grow up Duggar, instead it was a lecture about morals and how you should behave.1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Geared towards teens/young women. I almost stopped after the first chapter, but I'm glad I didn't. The rest of the chapters discussed more of the family and wonderful values, we would all do well to practice.
There were a few parts I actually cried and that doesn't happen often. I would recommend this book to the audience in which it was intended and any parents interested in becoming better at raising their own children. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/53-1/2
If you are not familiar with who these young ladies are, they are the four oldest daughters of the Duggar Family, who have grown to be well known via a television reality series, currently known as 19 Kids and Counting.
The Duggars are a Christian-centered family who have very strong convictions on living a Christ-centered living and following the roads and paths that God has set forth for them.
I found this look into the views and lives of the oldest girls interesting and refreshing. I see so many reviews that are based on personal opinion of the family, rather than on the book itself and I feel that that is both unfair and inappropriate.
The book was fairly well written with very few minor editing hiccups. The way the information is presented is well thought out and well laid out in a manner that is easy to read and understand. While there were quite a few Bible verses scattered throughout the text, I didn't feel it was "preachy" because it was just the ladies expressing their faith and their beliefs. I did not feel that the religion of it was being shoved down my throat. While the things they said in the book may not work for everyone, it is enough to make you think about what does and does not work in your life.
I really enjoyed getting to know them and their beliefs while reading and I was glad that I chose to read this one. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved this book! I also love the show and what this family stands for. These girls are so smart and their values need to be adopted by all who are searching for peace in their homes and lives. If more families lived like this our world may be a happier healthier place.
