About this audiobook

Something inhuman is stalking the frigid Alaskan wilds, leaving unspeakable carnage in its wake. For bush pilot Alexandra Maguire, the killings stir memories of a horrific event she witnessed as a child and evoke in her the inexplicable sense of otherness she has long felt within herself but never fully understood...until a darkly seductive stranger with secrets of his own enters her world.

Sent from Boston on a mission to investigate the savage attacks and stop the slaughter, vampire warrior Kade has his own reasons for returning to the frigid, forbidding place of his birth. Haunted by a secret shame, Kade soon realizes the stunning truth of the threat he faces-a threat that will jeopardize the fragile bond he has formed with the courageous, determined young woman who arouses his deepest passions and most primal hungers. But in bringing Alex into his world of blood and darkness, Kade must confront both his own personal demons and the even greater evil that could destroy all he holds dear.

    Synopsis:
In the frozen wilderness of Alaska, bush pilot Alexandra Macquire comes across the mutilated bodies of an entire family. The killings stir up horrific memories from her childhood until the arrival of a seductive stranger who makes her feel safe. Kade is a vampire warrior hiding a shameful secret that threatens his fragile bond with Alex. Can he confront his personal demons and protect the woman he loves from an unspeakable evil that threatens to destroy them both?

    Review:
A significant improvement over the last book. The story is gripping from the start and the romance is one of the most intense in the series.

Kade has just been added to my list of favorite vampires. He is one of the new additions to the Breed warriors and very little is known about him at the outset. The gaps are soon filled in and he is revealed to be sexy, sensitive and honorable. He is the first warrior whose family features prominently in the series, and it is interesting to see the dynamic between the members as well as how Kade copes with the secret he has been keeping from them.

Alex is an independent and determined heroine, and the way in which her relationship with Kade develops and strengthens is simply perfect. As someone who has been exposed to rogue vampires in the past, it is not surprising that she has conflicting feelings once she discovers who he truly is. Her reactions are believable and compelling, and the way in which things work themselves out is intriguing. I do feel that her special ability could have been woven better into the storyline but this is a very small nitpick.

The secondary plots and characters add action and suspense to the main story arc. The appearance of the other warriors toward the end adds extra energy and the scenes presented from the Ancient's perspective actually had me feeling for him. He has suffered at the hands of his captors and cannot really be blamed for what he is or for his natural instincts. Brock’s story is set up well and I look forward to seeing where his connection with Jenna is going, as from what I can gather, she is not a breedmate.

Overall, this is a wonderful series that I wholeheartedly recommend to lovers of paranormal romance.

Paranormal Romance. Midnight Breed 7. Rogue kills family in Alaska, Alex (pilot) finds them, Kade (twin brother Seth) goes to sort it out. One of the better ones. OK+

I am not sure what I expected from this story. I knew that it was going to have something to do with the Ancient and a mate for Kade. I wondered if there was going to be any more about Dragos and his plans for the future of his army. I continue to hope that some of those Breed men can be saved from the life that they have led for so long. This story starts out with death and destruction of so many people. I have to admit that Alaska in winter would be the perfect place for a bunch of Breeds. They would have so much time to do things they would be unstoppable. I did enjoy learning more about Kade and his family. He is a very complex man with a gift that is powerful and seductive. It is a gift that I wished I had. To be able to communicate with wild predators must be amazing. I can also see how it would draw the unwary into it power and not let go. I think that Kade handles the power every well, even though he is afraid of it. Kade is like the other warriors in the Order, kind to the weak and brutal to the savage. He is a good brother and son as well as the best mate for Alexandra Maguire. He is confident and powerful. He is all the Breed should be.Alexandra “Alex” Maguire has lived through so much. She lost her mother and brother to Rogues at a young age. Her father has been dead six months at the beginning of this story. She has continued on with the business that her father started and she is very good at flying in the Alaskan bush. I am sure that it is a very hard and rough existence for a young lady. I love that Alex cares so much for the local wolf population. I have always thought that wolves were very misunderstood. They are very intelligent and caring of those in their pack. They can be viscous and brutal but they have to be in order to survive the wild places that they love. Alex is also caring, compassionate and very loving. It is easy to see what draws Kade to her from the very beginning. This is a good addition to the series and it advances the ongoing story line. We are also left wondering what is going on with Alex’s friend Jenna. There isn't any clear idea of what the Ancient did to her. It will be interesting to find out what happens next.

I really loved Kade's story. He was an intriguing addition to The Order and one we hadn't really known much about. The book moved quickly and was filled with lots of action to keep.you interested.

And I have to say: Kade's was, by far, the hottest book to date. Unf.

Wow. Just...wow. As I've said before in regards to thsi series, the individual stories are so wonderful. The characters jump off the page, dragging me along their journey. And the overall arc of the series is phenomenal. The advancement in this book had me gasping and feverishly reading to find out what happens next.

I am a total Midnight Breed addict.

I really enjoy this series. I am a huge fan of Alaska and enjoyed reading about a small town in the interior Alaskan bush. The story is a little slow at the start, but once it gets going, it is pretty good. I will say that I missed have more of the other Breed males and their Breedmates in this story. It is only Kade for at least the first half of the book, when the others show up. Chase is one of the Breed males that venture up to Alaska. I have never liked him and I think I like him even less after this book. Hunter also ventures north, I am getting to like him more and more. I would really like to read his story, it could be very interesting.

Compared to the other books in this series, I found myself underwhelmed. I expected the story to be more captivating than it was. The idea of the story was good but the follow through was lacking in comparison. In the other books I felt as though I experienced the journey with the characters. This one I just read about the journey. Overall not bad, but not brilliant either. I have high hopes for the next in the series (fingers crossed).

Book 7 is all about Kade, another member of the Order. A group of Breed that swore to protect humans from Rouges, a disgusting creature named Dargos (who scientifically breeds Gen One assassin into a kidnapped Breedmate's womb) and from an Ancient. I felt though with the Ancient in this book that maybe he wasn't or isn't the enemy but in fact maybe an ally and I'm curious to see what happened between him and the female involved in this book (NO SPOILERS ON THAT FOLKS)! Back to the story, Kade was sent to his home state in Alaska to investigate a killing of a local family, which the order suspected was conducted by Rogues. When Kade arrives at the small town of Harmony he meets this bush pilot named Alexandra Maguire, who seems to be a potential Breedmate. Aside from that mission Kade has a dark secret. Not entirely his own, but his twin brother's...(AGAIN, no SPOILERS!) I wasn't "really" looking forward to reading this book as Kade hasn't had much of an impact in the series, however, now I have to say I am glad I did. I think the story between Kade and Alex was touching and shows just how much something can run up on you when you are trying to run away. Now, to wait until the Fall until the next book in the series is released....come on Lara! It will definitely be a looooooooong wait.

Her last book was good, but nothing to this one! This was a really good book and it was so different in my opinion from the others, but in a very good way!

Alex Maguire is a bush pilot in Alaska and finds herself in a different kind of danger than she's used to. Something or someone is killing people, in the place that herself and her father fled to after her mother and brother were brutally killed. Into the picture comes Kade, sent by the Midnight Breed to investigate, he also has to face up to his past. It's pretty predictable stuff, though Alex is a well drawn characters, I'm not sure what she will do once she's with the other Breed, she's used to a very active life.

The story telling quality is good but not quite a masterpiece. I would give it a 4 out of 5. The story itself is also good but not terribly original. Maybe because I've read the Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward and the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon already that it has now grown old on me?! Perhaps. I would give it a 2 out of 5. The cover art... If I was browsing the shelves of a bookstore on a retail therapy binge, I would pick this book up as a potential buy just by it's cover alone... that's a 4 out of 5. So for entertainment value, I would give this book a 3.5 out of 5.This is the latest release of the Midnight Breed (MB) series which is by now composed of seven books. And this is the first MB book I've read. I probably would have a better appreciation of characters and events if I've read this series in sequence instead of jumping straight to Book 7. But, even though this is Book 7 of the MB series, it can be read as a stand alone. There is enough background information provided within the pages so that the readers don't get confused. But like I said, it would give the reader a better appreciation of characters and events if read in sequence.

I'm not really sure what to think of this. The prologue was great--believable characters and events that were both sad and scary. Alex's introduction was also strong and compelling and her initial meeting with Kade kind of gave me Buffy/Angel flashbacks. Unfortunately, after they meet it's like their love is a fait accomplit. There was no development, which made the romance part of this book really hollow for me. The action was similar-- it was cheese-tastically entertaining... except when it was not. At the end, I'm not really satisfied, but I know I'll read the next in the series. I'm not sure whether that's an affirmation of the book is actually pretty good or if I just have a hard time letting go.

This has to be my 2nd favorite book in the series. I really loved Kade which surprised me because before this he really didn't grab my attention. Granted he was a late character introduction into the series but his friend Brock stood out more (BTW his book will be coming out in Fall 2010 I found out). So it was a pleasant surprise that I was able to get into this book almost from the beginning.Without giving anything away this book was set in Alaska, which after being able to visit that beautiful state was much more vivid to me in the book. She did a great job of flushing out the characters and having a back story that seemed to really fit. She was able to weave in the on-going Ancient and Dragos storyline without letting it take over the book. I was a little disappointed that the rest of the guys were in it so little and that the rest of the breedmates were not in it at all.Overall this was a very enjoyable read! Great escapism and I can't wait for Brock's story. I wouldn't be disappointed if he ended up with Jenny :)

The frequent use of "female" keeps my right eyebrow hovering near my hairline, but I'd be lying if I tried to suggest that I don't enjoy Adrian's books. Her take on vampire romances isn't something I would usually enjoy, but the Midnight Breed series is like chocolate chip cookies - and my sweet tooth is only getting worse as time goes on.

I'm not going to give a short version of what this book is about. That's what the back of the book is for. I'm just going to say that I love Lara Adrian and her stories of the Breed Warriors. We all love the fact that a big hard-ass vampire is able to find and love a sweet and charming woman and make her the center of his universe. So, there you have it...I loved it. Can't wait for the next one that's due out in the fall.
