- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I use this book as a gift a lot! Especially to mom's who have young boys. This is a story about a superhero that spends a lot of time battling evil villains such as sister sinister and the flaming eyeball. He also has a secret identity that the reader can uncover if they look at the illustrations carefully. The story has some great language "I can shoot positronic rays out of my eyeballs" and "I can hug mutant talking Jell-O from beyond the stars." Just great things to imagine! I also like how the author uses first person and talks directly to the reader. There is a lot of attitude to the writing which is intentional on the author's part as it is yet another clue to figuring out the true identity of Awesome Man. Just an overall fun book to read and one that children will like.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A cute little picture book that details all the fun and some of the downsides of being a super hero for the very young. Illustrations were clean and brightly colored. If you pay attention to the pictures there are definitely some fun hidden secrets.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is a gorgeous book that will have appeal to fans of superheroes everywhere! Awesome Man is just that, awesome. There is a retro feel to the illustrations, they are bright, colourful and eye catching. I'm impressed that he can 'shoot positronic rays' out of his eyeballs, and battle with the bad guys with his 'awesome dog' called Moskowitz. But where does Awesome Man go at night? Just where is his fantasic 'Fortress of Awesome'? Waiting there is a plate of Cheddar cheese on crackers and chocolate milk.... yum! Might be useful as a read aloud as well.

This was just as fun as I thought it would be. What a great superhero/ role model for kids, especially the ones with high energy & low impulse-control." - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Superhero kids may enjoy this exciting tale... I didn't.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A must read for young fans of superheros! Kids, especially boys, will grab this with a "ginormous Awesome Power Grip."
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Read on September 15, 2011Books for little boys can be tricky, but this one is really cute. It's all about...wait for it...Awesome Man, his dog Moskowitz, and their adventures kicking bad guy behind. It's even got a bit of a message: keep that temper under control and it's OK to love your mom.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Familiar and predictable but entertaining story of a young boy imagining himself a superhero.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Having the appearance of a typical 1950s comic superhero, Awesome Man battles not only bad guys but his anger issues as well. Awesome Man's true identity is revealed at the end, though hints throughout the story give away that he is just a normal little boy. The mixed-media illustrations have a modern feel though the dotted background is a throwback to old newspaper comics. The action packed story will appeal to children and parents or teachers may find it appropriate to start a discussion on anger management. This story may also be good for lessons on predicting. A sure hit for children who enjoy superheroes and wish that they could be one too. Recommended grade level: K-2.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5“I can fly as high as a satellite and as straight as an arrow or through the time barrier and not get dizzy, or feel nauseous, or smash into things…except on purpose. When you are a superhero like me, sometimes you have to smash into things.”Awesome Man is very powerful. He can fight bad guys. He can shoot positronic rays out of his eyeballs. He is superstrong. But he must be careful that he doesn’t let his powers go down and be too weak to fight bad guys. Luckily, his dog can bring him food and his energy will be renewed. The story of a superhero that every kid will love.
