About this audiobook

Half human and half Wyr, Pia Giovanni spent her life keeping a low profile among the Wyrkind and avoiding the continuing conflict between them and their Dark Fae enemies. But after being blackmailed into stealing a coin from the hoard of a dragon, Pia finds herself targeted by one of the most powerful-and passionate-of the Elder Races.

As the most feared and respected of the Wyrkind, Dragos Cuelebre cannot believe someone had the audacity to steal from him, much less succeed. And when he catches the thief, Dragos spares her life, claiming her as his own to further explore the desire they've ignited in one another.

A female protagonist who is half human/mythological creature, a martial arts expert and a freaking badass vegan - hell yes!!!
As a mature adult, I'm also all for the adult sex scenes.

In this new paranormal romance be prepared to be taken on a wild ride filled with action, shape-shifters and hot romance. Pia Giovanni finds her life turned upside down as a forced favor from her ex leaves her on the run for stealing from the most powerful man in New York and Wyrkind, Dragos Cuelebre. Pia knows her days are numbered and flees the city with Dragos fast on her heels. Soon she’s pulled into a supernatural rivalry battle and fighting off feelings for a man set out to make an example of her. To teach her and everyone that it’s a really, really bad idea to steal from a dragon. I really enjoyed Dragon Bound and the wild ride it took me on. Pia was a funny down to earth heroin who was strong and wise enough to know when it was time for her to get out of doge. The romance between Pia and Dragos was hot, stormy and exciting. I was just as enraptured by the chase as Dragos. I didn’t know whether they would jump each others bones or fight to the death.Dragos was thee alpha male, sexy and strong. I loved watching his world get turned around by the feisty Pia. The adventure these two were on allowed for some great action scenes and world building also allowing for their relationship to grow and morph into something nether one of them expected. Overall, Dragon Bound was a great start to The Elder Races series. Ms. Harrison created an engaging world filled with unique characters and situations that I can’t wait to discover. More please!

Pia Giovanni has done the stupidest thing possible, steal from a dragon. Now she is on the run for her life. Dragos Cuelebre is a dragon that has been around since the dawn of time. He is rather upset with the thief but when he catches her he is challenged by her. He realizes that he has been bored for a very long time and there is something about Pia that interests him and makes him want her.But hunting Pia down starts a war with the Dark Elves and Cuelebre finds himself trying to figure out what Pia really is along with trying to kill the Dark Elves king. Pia has feeling for Cuelebre but is also battling the teachings of her mother, which has been run and hide.I really liked this book. I was instantly drawn to Pia. Cuelebre does get overbearing with the whole commanding streak, but he does take a look at how others react around him. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series and see what happens next. This is one paranormal romance that you simply must read.

I enjoyed this well enough. I liked Pia's backbone and thought Dragos was fun. I especially liked the way some of his behaviours came across as dragon-like without it ever being directly described as so. However, there was a lot of head hopping that irritated me, the plot was really only a thin scaffold to hang the romance on and I thought that the writing was really repetitive. Things like the fact that on the first page, which is only really a half page because of the chapter heading, the word 'so' is used 7 times (it sucked so bad..., fifteen minutes or so..., she was so freaking dead..., he screwed her over so royally..., etc). Also Dragos is described as 'aggressive' about a thousand times and his eyes are raptor-like on every third page. I don't really understand how or why the book has won so many awards. I wouldn't call it great, but I did enjoy it in a light, fluffy kind of way.

I recently just bought Dragon Bound, for a group read, and since I just adore shifter romances, and this author has been at the top of my list of authors to read. I do have a weakness for dragons, and after reading Dragon Bound, I am hooked on this author. I have already bought the second one. Thea Harrison brings out certain aspects of shifter love stories, that completely captures your attention from the first paragraph. There was quite a few things that I enjoyed about Dragon Bound. As the first in the series, I felt like this author set up this world with enough description and sensuality to get you hooked immediately. I never felt lost in her writing or confused.Pia finds herself being forced into a situation with no good ending in sight. She ends up having no option but to steal a penny from the leader of the Wyr (dragon shifters), and through some miracle she manages it without getting caught. But she knows that he will try to find her, and she will have to live a life on the run. With the help of a friend she manages to escape into a territory that is a enemy to the Wyr. But then she is shocked when her good luck runs out, and she finds herself captured by Dragos. In the beginning she expects him to kill her or torture her, but she is shocked when neither of those things actually occur. Dragos is furious with Pia when he finally finds the thief that stole his penny. But he finds himself being seduced by her beauty and her sweet spirit, and did what had to be done to survive. He starts to truly admire her, but there are vultures circling around them, threatening both of them. Only by truly trusting one another and working as a team will they be able to conquer all that stands between them.I have heard so many great things about Dragon Bound since it came out, and I don't know how I waited this LONG to finally get my booty in gear and read it! Thea Harrison is going up my list along side with J.R. Ward and Christine Feehan. There was so much that I enjoyed about this story. There was so much mystery and intrigue and a intensity to the story that only tightened its hold on me. I loved this couple, Pia and Dragos were stellar together. There was quite a few surprises here and there, and the chemistry alone is hot enough to heat the whole planet up. Dragon Bound lived up to my expectations and even more than that it turned into one of those stories that burns in your memory forever. A Tale full of passion, paranormal suspense, with such witty interactions between the characters, you will have no choice but to fall in love. A WINNNER of a read and I guarantee it will delight you from your head to your toes. A must read for any that are looking for a thrilling and intense romance yet soft and juicy on the inside.

I thought this was an excellent shape shifter romance. The author did a brilliant job of planning out the story so that all the plot threads wove together and there were no moments where the reader said 'Um, what?' Small details early on in the story helped to make sense of bigger changes later on, and everything stayed 'in character'. I thought the plot was unique and enjoyed the ongoing game of solving one mystery only to uncover another that drew us on.

The author put a huge amount of effort into creating a world of magic with appropriate rules, and although some things weren't spelled out to the reader, we were able to understand that there was a complex system that had definite rules, and that the author wasn't just making it up as she went along and going with what was convenient for the characters at the time.

Dragos had a fearsome reputation, and a common mistake of authors is to tell the reader that the hero had earned such a reputation, but not let us see it for ourselves. While Dragos made a great romantic hero, there was also enough of the fearsome predator still about him (particularly in battle scenes) that we were able to believe his reputation had been fairly earned.

The side characters were brilliant. I loved the gryphons. I want to read Rune and Grayson's books next, but I see the next one is Trick's. Either way, I'm definitely reading more of these.

I can't get my thoughts together, but to sum it up, I loved Pia and Dragos. They were a great couple and I liked how they worked toward making a relationship work for them. I was just as surprised as the rest of them when Pia's shift form was revealed. The story involving the Dark Fae king was just OK. The focus of this story was Pia and Dragos and that was fine with me.

    Synopsis:
Half-human and half-wyr, Pio Giovanni has spent her life on the run from unknown forces. After inadvertently revealing her abilities, Pia is blackmailed into stealing a coin from the most powerful of the Elder Races – Dragos, whose fury knows no bounds and who will stop at nothing to find and keep the one who stole from him.

    Review:
A book that definitely lives up to the hype. Dragon Bound has a gripping story, fantastic characters and an amazing romance.

The world building is incredibly detailed and intricate. The author’s knowledge of various mythological creatures and her skill at incorporating these elements into the plot and characterization is commendable. For example, the fact that Dragos hoards beautiful things is traditional of dragons in western culture and books such as Smaug in The Hobbit and the dragons guarding Gringotts in Harry Potter.
The romance is absorbing. Pia and Dragos’s chemistry is intense and kept me turning the pages. I just didn’t want their story to end. Some readers may find Dragos overly domineering and possessive but this aspect of his character is consistent with the fact that he is, in fact, a dragon albeit in the form of a man.

Pia is spunky, intelligent and resourceful. She is more than capable of holding her own against all the male characters in the book (and the female as well) from her obnoxious ex-boyfriend to the spiteful fae king and the dragon himself. The mystery revolving around her wyr-form (i.e., the creature that she can shift into) is intriguing and the ultimate revelation of her identity is one of my favorite scenes.

My one small nitpick is that the villain of the piece is a little generic and never really constitutes a real threat. He is easily thwarted and his ultimate demise is anti-climactic. Nevertheless, this plot point never detracted from my enjoyment of the story.

The secondary characters are also well developed and interesting with each of Dragos’s friends having their own distinct personalities and opinions. The series continues with some of these characters taking the lead and I look forward to reading future installments as well as re-reading this one quite soon.

    Good afternoon,

I have just recently finished Dragonbound which is the first in Thea's Elder Races series. I've heard interesting tidbits for quite some time and finally was able to read the start of this fascinating series.

Pia is a young woman who has been prepared by her mother from the time she was a little girl to run should the need arise. She's stashed away ID's and money at various locations, taken a variety of self defense classes, glamoured herself to not show part of her heritage and tried not to get close to anyone just in case she has to run for it. Pia is actually half Wyr from her mother's side and half human. When her mother died not long after Pia turned nineteen, she no longer had anyone to rely on. Then she walked into a bar in New York run by Quentin who is an Elf with powerful connections and she felt a sense of belonging. When her ex-boyfriend blackmails her into stealing from a Dragon, she has no idea what she's getting into nor how much it will change her life. With the help of Quentin, she is able to escape to South Carolina, or so she thinks.

Dragos has been a dragon alive since the forming of the Earth and despite being a millionare, is still every inch the barbarian. He runs a tight ship in New York with trusted shapeshifting Gryphons and a harpy along with all sorts of Wyr kind that he's allowed into his domain and offered protection. His demeanor often makes people wary though he's smart, very handsome and for sure not someone you'd want to anger. When he learns that someone has stolen from his horde, he is beyond furious which later causes him to do damage control from roaring and damaging some buildings. To his surprise, he finds that woman has broken through his defenses and rather than kill her as he probably would have a man, he has a charm made that leads him to the shores of South Carolina.

From the moment they meet face to face, it's equal parts amusing and compelling. Pia is very surprised when she learns that Dragos isn't going to kill her but does think that she needs to pay for what she stole. She's reluctant at first but upon realizing that she's lucky to still be alive, decides to go along with it for the time being. That is until she calls for help from Elven friends who seem to know about Pia's parentage and thought highly of her Mother. One of them proceeds to shoot Dragos with a dart gun that keeps him from temporarily shifting. This later causes issues when they are both captured and taken to the Other World by some very stinky Goblins where magic rules and most technology can't survive.

With some quick thinking, they manage to escape though are nearly captured again when Dragos realizes he can't shift quite yet. Pia manages to give his system a boost and she gets to see how magnificent he is in full dragon form which is about the size of a plane and has beautiful copper scales. He proceeds to do what dragons are known for which is eating and then flies Pia to safety back into the modern world.

She gets a glimpse into Dragos' world which is quite the shock to her learning about some of the variety of Wyr's in the world, the richness of the place he calls home and Drago's in general. Part of her wants to run but another part of her wonders what it would be like to have a life with the man who she was once afraid of and now finds herself falling for.

She makes friends with some of the people working for Drago's particularly Tricks who has secrets of her own, and Graydon the Gryphon who jokingly calls her cupcake. She also eventually finds herself having an alliance with the very Elves that revered her mother.

When Pia learns of something she thinks may be a trap from Dragos, she's desperate to break free for a little bit and her two bodyguards reluctantly allow her though follow closely. After Pia learns the truth, she is able to calm down but is then kidnapped which sends Dragos on the warpath. Despite the circumstances Pia finds herself in, she's determined to survive and hopes that Dragos will find a way to save her.

She manages to escape her captors for a while though gets injured when stepping into a rabbit hole. Telepathically she is able to communicate with Dragos though doesn't know exactly where he is and worries that she may be captured again. He comes to the rescue just in time though nearly loses Pia when she's hit with an arrow to the chest. She survives though with the help of modern medicine, magic and love. Now as to weather she decides to accept being Drago's mate, that's something I won't spoil.

This was my first experience reading one of Thea's books and I very much enjoyed it. There was a fascinating mix of laughter, adventure, passion, romance and magic. I loved the concept of bringing a variety of different mythical creatures together and having some of them able to coincide in the modern human world.

Pia is one of my favorite characters as she's not afraid to speak her mind, can handle herself in a fight and is full of surprises. She can go toe to toe with Drago's, thinks quickly on her feet and can get herself out of any locked space. I was really curious what kind of Wyr she is and was very surprised when it was revealed. Certainly wasn't a creature that I had thought of but made sense once I put the clues together. I was laughing while reading about her getting drunk with Trick's and how silly they were together. I also laughed at how she kicked some Gryphon butt in the gym and managed to turn it into a contest. Pia is small but she's mighty and can more than hold her own.

I also enjoyed learning about Dragos who turns out to be an ancient Wyr and can generally shape shift at will. He can be very domineering but also has a soft side which is rare to see unless he's in close quarters with Pia. I like the fact that he doesn't look down on people in general and takes very good care of those that work for him and he's fiercely protective. He surprised me in a variety of ways and I would love to be able to see what his true form looks like.

Overall, I was very impressed with this book and I look forward to reading the rest of the series. I'm hoping that Graydon will eventually get his own special mate and can't wait to read what else Thea has up her sleeve for the Elder Races series.

I am probably going to be stoned for not having gave this book a 5/5 ravens but...I felt it was so similar to other PNR/UF out there right now that it didn't warrant it. Do not get me wrong, this book is excellent but...I just am so tired of seeing the same story. That is my only complaint.

Good things. I love the use of dragons and a plethora of paranormal creatures. I like when authors mix up their species. I love that Pia fights a bit to get to the end of her story and I love the fact that there are Dragons in this book. THANK YOU MEAGHAN! I enjoyed the story and can't wait to see what else Ms. Harrison has coming to us. Also there is steam on these pages...be enticed :)

Disclaimer: I got this book from the public library and have received no compensation from the author or publisher for this honest review.I couldn't put this one down and read it in one sitting. I was hooked from the opening sentence and stayed on the wild ride with Pia as she took me on an urban fantasy journey that had me laughing, shouting in frustration, and cheering the characters on.The relationship & romance with Dragos was intense as much as it was a roller coaster ride as two people who are not very good at relationships have to make one work. The twists that were there did not feel contrived or unnecessary. Overall, a really good read.Would I recommend this? Based on reading this one, I'd be willing to pick up others in this series.

I have heard some really awesome things about the Elder Races series and got this on audiobook quite a while ago to read. It is okay, but overall I was pretty disappointed. This is definitely one of those paranormal books where the plot takes a backseat to the romance between the two lead characters. The audiobook was narrated decently. It wasn’t narrated so well that I thought it was awesome, but it wasn’t badly done either. The narrator did a decent job of having distinct voices for all of the characters and portrayed emotion well.Pia Giovanni is a half-human/half-wyr. She has spent most of her life keeping a low profile and hiding what she is. However that all changes when an old boyfriend blackmails her into stealing something from one of the most powerful and feared creatures of the Elder Races, Dragos Cuelebre. Little do Pia and Dragos know that the blackmail was instigated by one of Dragos’s sworn enemies and part of a much larger plot to bring him down. When Dragos hunts down Pia, he spares her life but tells her he must work off her debt to him. Pia agrees but refuses to be his slave. Both Pia and Dragos are strangely drawn to each other; yet each is too prideful to submit to the other. This is a very very typical paranormal romance. Dragos is your super alpha male who is centuries old, yet for some reason there is just something that instantly draws him to Pia. Pia is the kind of heroine that has a secret hidden power, yet constantly needs to be rescued by Dragos (to be fair she does help do some rescuing as well). Pia also constantly protests against Drago’s advances but when he really asserts himself she melts against him in need. All very eye-rolling inducing and typical romance. The whole series reminded me a lot of the Black Dagger Brotherhood books, but not as well done. There are some interesting elements to this world. The Wyr are all different types of creatures. Generally they can take a human shape but also have a Wyr shape (Dragon, griffin, etc). I enjoy the wide variety of Wyr creatures that we meet. There is some talk about Other Worlds, which are parallel magic worlds that the characters can journey in between and this was pretty neat too. Unfortunately all of these elements weren’t expanded on all that much and were brushed under the rug in favor of the relationship issues and romance scenes. The romantic scenes between Dragos and Pia were decently done. They weren’t the best I have read but weren’t the worst either. The scenes are very explicit and Dragos and Pia do have great chemistry together; so the scenes were engaging. There wasn’t a ton of creativity in them, but they were good. This book seems to wrap up the story of Dragos and Pia and I am guessing the next Elder Races book will feature another couple...as is done so often in these types of series.Overall this was an okay paranormal romance. This book followed a plot and had characters that are very typical to paranormal romance genre. So...if that is what you are looking for this was a decent book. There are some other elements to the story that were interesting; I loved the ideas of the Wyr and of alternate magical worlds. The relationship between Pia and Drago is incredibly predictable and Drago is very much an alpha male stereotype. I won’t be reading anymore of this series, but I think for those looking for a serial type paranormal romance series this isn’t a bad one.

I'm actually completely shocked at how much I enjoyed this. I 'grew out' of my paranormal romance phase sometime before the age of 20. Not to say that paranormal romance is any more or less childish than any other type of romance, I simply burned myself out. The ones that I've tried since were so heavy on the 1st POV and rote world-building that I could never immerse myself in them. Add to the fact that I typically despise overly controlling, "alpha" male heroes (be they shifter or other) that are excused because they're a little less than ~human (or more than, if you prefer), and I was not exactly excited for this book.

However, it got such wonderful reviews everywhere I threw up my hands and decided to give it a go. And BOY was I ever pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Possibly, its saving grace is that it's third person and gives both the hero and the heroine's points-of-view. There was something decidedly animalistic, remote and ancient about the way Harrison wrote Dragos. Normally, the heroes of these shfiter/immortal novels just come across as machismo assholes, and while Dragos has his moments, there are also wonderful moments where he's a fish out of water -- the Ziploc bag scene comes to mind especially. He's never cruel or violent and he often apologizes and is like I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING EITHER, I DON'T NORMALLY GIVE A SHIT ABOUT PEOPLE. But in a manner that is STRANGELY charming. I don't know how Harrison managed to make me not hate Dragos, but she deserves many accolades for that alone.

Then there's our heroine, Pia. If you had, at any point, told me that I was going to give a paranormal romance between a dragon and unicorn shifter 4 stars, I would've laughed in your face, but it WORKS. Pia's wonderful. Closed off and protective of herself, but never a victim of her circumstances. She doesn't JUST like Dragos run roughshod over her and her protestations. And even though there's the whole ~mate~ aspect, you never get the sense that Pia thinks she'd die without him, he just simply makes her life better.

THERE'S ALSO A PREGNANCY STORYLINE. Which NORMALLY, I WOULD HATE. I mean, it's a half-dragon, 1/4 unicorn, 1/4 human baby. WTF. But weirdly, I didn't even hate THAT part even if it was sort of tacked on at the end.

Overall, I'm baffled by my enjoyment of this novel. But ... I'm not going to argue about it.

A delicious throw back. Take a medieval warlord put him in an Armani shirt and throw him into the present and you have Dragos. His overbearing and possessive attitude was fun to read and how Pia helped him through his rages was so sweet. I loved Pia and Dragos together. The sex was plentiful and hot. This is a fun and easy read, full of humor and sexy aggressive men.

    2.5, but I'm rounding up to 3.

I wanted to like this book. No, scratch that. I wanted to love this book. The premise of this series is so intriguing, as is the world the author wove.

    But.

    Isn't there always a but?

But I just couldn't get past too many details to actually sit back and enjoy the story. The sexual situations could have been very hot, except the author chose to use clinical terms for almost everything. Other details were overdone and unnecessary ("Pia grabbed the second new outfit she
had bought along with underwear, a pair of blue jean capris and a lemon yellow stretch T-shirt with capped short sleeves and a scalloped neck."), and, to be perfectly honest, dated the story way before the time it was written (I actually had to check at the pub date because I thought this was a mid-90s book).

The heroine of the book was twenty-five, but acted like she was sixteen for almost the entirety of the story. She was hot and cold, flipping back and forth from being hard and ruthless to crying her eyes out more times than I can remember.

The fantasy aspects of this story were very well done, so much so that I thought about giving the additional books in this series a go. In the end, though, I just don't think I mesh with Harrison's writing style. Sometimes less is more.

When Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison (website to come) arrived in the mail it came with a full page of author quotes, a letter from the editor and a hand-written note from the publicist telling me they were excited about this one. That never happens. Oh, of course I get emails about books the publishers are excited for, but it's rare that a book arrives with this much fanfare. Especially one that isn't going to be released for months and months.

Even so, I went into it with low expectations. I'm not much of a paranormal romance fan in general, and dragons in particular don't appeal to me. The first few chapters were good, but they weren't amazing. I was just beginning to question the good judgment of all those authors/publicists/editors/etc when BAM, I got sucked in. The turning point for me was when the hero and heroine meet. Though the world-building is interesting and unique, it isn't perfect. There were things that bothered me about the story and world-building. But the small annoyances were overshadowed by the amazing romance. The romance steals the show. The romance is amazing. Love. Love. LOVE the romance.

I’m going to start telling you all you really want to read this book. Why? Because it has a really hot alpha hero, a heroine who pretty much kicks ass and a fast and sexy plot that kept me reading until five in the morning...ON A WORK NIGHT! Needless to say, my boss wasn’t impressed, but I really couldn’t care less because this book was amazing. Anyway, I digress; I’m going to really REALLY try not to give away any spoilers. You need to read it for yourselves...really, I insist :D

The Elder races and humans have co-existed a very long time. Wyr (shape shifters), Elves, Goblins, Trolls and Mortals are all part of one big happy family. Pia is a half-breed with a secret, one that she will die to protect. Her scuzz-bag ex-boyfriend knows a little part of her secret and uses this, potentially life threatening, information to blackmail her into doing something stupid. That something stupid is to steal something from the hoard of the Dragon Wyr, Dragos. Dragos is not very happy at all and vows to hunt her down personally as a matter of honour. Using the letter of apology that she leaves at the scene, he uses his power to track her down in a very sexy dream. After waking up very aroused (and more than a little p*ssed) he gets serious about hunting her, and uses witches to pinpoint her physical location. Unfortunately for him, the second they lay eyes on each other, the sparks they created during their dream encounter, turn into a full on inferno. Realising that he can no longer punish Pia, he decides to capture her and take her home with him. This turns out to be easier said than done, as the journey home is filled with danger and a near death situation due to Dragos’s enemy, the Dark Elf King, deciding that now is the time to start a war. Can Pia and Dragos navigate through the danger to reach his home, or will they get lost in the other world forever?

I love Dragos. Dragos has gone to number two on my alpha male list of hotness (I’m sorry, but it will take a fricking miracle to knock Judd Lauren off the top). Dragos is the ultimate Alpha warrior, an ancient being who has had to claw his way to the top of the hierarchy to organise the Wyr into a force to be reckoned with. Pia excites him, Pia makes him feel alive and, unwilling to let her escape, and he pretty much forces her into coming home with him. He is so dominant and so forceful that he made my stomach flutter. He constantly orders Pia around because his single focus is her. However, what was absolutely fab was his willingness to learn. At one point in the tale, he quite willingly admits he used to eat humans before he had a conversation with one, and now he is looking to claim one for himself so I think that shows how he has evolved! He has no idea how to deal with a relationship (I had a little grin on when he wondered if he was now a boyfriend) but he wanted to be with her so much that he was willing to learn. Don’t get me wrong, he is always going to be bossy, Dominant and completely in charge, but he tried to work around these character traits. When they got into danger , everything in him screamed at him to protect her at all costs, but he knew it would do more harm than good. What he did was prepare her as much as possible, and then hope for the best. However, don’t think he did nothing. No, he definitely does not do nothing as he meticulously notes down who touches Pia and then plots their demise. Yum! :D He wanted Pia just as she was, he wouldn’t even accept her in her glamored form that she used to protect herself, and he just made me melt.

I loved Pia because she was such a strong character. She wanted Dragos and was willing to take him at face value. Apart from the whole ordering her around, she didn’t want him to change anything. At one point, she refers to him as her “hero”, and he honestly can’t believe that someone can see past the big scary monster to the man inside. She calms him down when the Dragon takes over, excites him with her refusal to cower and bow to his every whim, and revs up his libido to the point where rational thought leaves the building (The sex scenes in this book are amazing. Seriously. Think Dominant Dragon with a new lease for life and a ridiculous amount of stamina and you might get an idea. Oh and he has a big tail :D) They are amazing together but both have a lot to learn in order to have a successful relationship. Can she trust him with her secrets? Moreover, can he let go of his Wyr side enough to be with her without trying to control her?
One of the fab things about this book was the world building and the side characters. We meet a whole host of creatures who help bring this character to life. Dragos is the leader of the New York branch of Wyrs. Many different warriors report to him, all who play different roles in bringing this love story together. My favourite were the two gryphons Rune and Graydon who are put in charge of her care. They are big, bossy, sexy men with protective streaks a mile wide...love them and can’t wait for their books! :D

This book is amazing. Sexy, funny, dark and magical, I just couldn’t put it down. I recommend it to Alpha fans who don’t mind a little darkness with their Romance. I leave you with my favourite exchange between Pia and Dragos....soooo bossy :D

“You’re mine,” he said. “You can deny it, argue, throw fits, try to run away. But. You’re. Still. Mine.”

“That’s insane,” she whispered. “I have no idea what that means. I don’t belong to you or anyone else.”

“Yes, you do,” he told her. His thumbs stroked her lips. “You are mine and I will keep you. I will not hurt you and I will protect you. And You’re beginning to trust me. All of that is a good thing.”

This book was utterly fantastic! The heroine was wonderful, the perfect blend or vulnerability and kickassness. The hero was an utterly dangerous alpha dragon, who thinks Twizzlers and Cherry Coke Slurpees are disgusting.
I absolutely loved how well written this book was, the plot was wonderfully interesting, the secondary and tertiary characters were all fully fleshed out and with very clear personalities. This book was filled with wonderful bouts of humor while still being serious, just like it is in real life, too often authors go either too silly, or too serious, Ms. Harrison hit the right note here, perfectly balanced. I am so looking forward to more works from Ms. Harrison. I received this book this morning at 10am, started it at 11:15, and finished it at 4pm. I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of a great romance, a sexy take-charge hero who has to learn to say please, wonderful supporting characters, a unique plot, and a wonderful heroine.

(I acquired this book through Goodreads Giveaways aka Goodreads First Reads)

Pia Giovanni is blackmailed into stealing something from a dragon's hoard, which everyone knows is a big no no. However, she gets her own on her blackmailer in a truly wonderful way, the thing she steals is a penny, yes you saw that correctly, a penny, and not just any penny as Dragos the Dragon is quick to point out but a 1965 penny, which is no comparison at all to the 1972 penny Pia left in it's place!

If you think that sounds outrageous and little too silly for you, I highly urge you to think again. Pia and Dragos treat that penny with all the importance of the hope diamond, and it doesn't seem the least bit ridiculous.

This book got rave reviews from Dear Author, enough so that I decided to pick it up. Did it deserve the rave reviews? Yes. It is a well written book, set in a fascinating world filled with intresting races. The plot was fast moving, and the characters interesting. I loved the way Pia refuse to give in to Drako's demands.

It felt to me like their romance drowned in all the action, which is the reason it don't get 5 stars.

This book confused me. It's so charming! And not at all misogynistic! But how can that be in this genre? Every time I rolled my eyes at something one character said, another character would roll her eyes, too. Way to hang a lantern! And people did not behave illogically! What!

There's a big reveal toward the end re: the protagonist's identity, and it's all pretty obvious from the beginning (I mean, this is a book for girls and the boy is a dragon. Paint by numbers, right?), and every plot development was telegraphed, but who cares? It didn't diminish my enjoyment of the story. The characters were a lot of fun, and that's most of what I need.

I really enjoyed this book. I'm not sure why it took me so long to start this series. I've never done this author before. I really glad I finally started.

I really liked the characters. The story was great. I can't wait to get more of this series.

I couldnt really get into the story...which, considering how good its sounds on the cover, is very unlike me. I didnt particularly warm to the main characters but i liked Rune and Graydon and their interaction with each other...
