      I really enjoyed the heroine being a sword wielding, shit talking, little sister who will cut u. She was never shy about sex just inexperienced. A murder mystery too. The book had everything.

A secret that if it was revealed, would make Fenalla the prime suspect, and Saidh is pretty sure that Fenella is innocent. When she arrives, she meets the new Laird Greer. The chemisty is powerful between Greer and Saidh. Greer makes Saidh feel like a woman with desire and passion. But with Greer and Saidh's desire building for each other, there is something foul afoot. And Greer wants to make sure that nothing will happen to Saidh. Saidh is a prime target of a killer, one that is out for her blood and by some miracle she has survived the attempts on her life. But there is more to this than just Saidh's life. Someone killed Fenella's husband, and the same killer is after Saidh. Only when Greer and Saidh work together can they solve the mystery and find a place to share their lives together...if her seven protective brothers don't kill the man she loves in the process first?The HeroGreer MacDonnell, was not ready to be the new laird. And it wasn't a position he really wanted for himself but he was the one next in line for the position. So Greer tries to make the best of the position. When he arrives at his new home, there are some messes to clean up. Greer is honorable, hard-working, and dedicated. Greer does what is necessary despite what his lectures from his Squire about not following the right "procedures". But Greer and Alpin have a strong bond, so he takes it all in stride. What I admired most about Greer was what a perfect hero he is. He is a wonderful leader, respectful but firm. He see's all sides in a situation and doesn't judge instantly. He thinks and ponders before making a decision. Have to admire a man, that is patient and understanding in any given situation. He is caring and protective toward Saidh.The HeroineSaidh is one of those heroines that you meet and you know if she was real....you could be best friends for life. She has many facets to her character and I found her so refreshing. She is energetic and full of passion for life. I love her zestiness and her stubborn streak and boy how she handles her brothers. She has seven of them, and practically grew up as a tom boy. But she wins any tussle she has with them. Growing up with seven rowdy brothers....she definitely gets creative. I love the way she handles her eccentric cousin Fenella. Now Fenella isn't my favorite side character, but Saidh handles her well with grace and love. I love how she handles the situations she is dealt. And she tends to stretch the boundaries. *giggle* Can't get enough of her curiosity, her tendency to wear breeches while riding (smart lady), and can curse like a sailor. Saidh is also a sweet and kind heroine as well. She makes a perfect match for Greer.Plot and Story LineThe Highlander Takes A Bride is the third installment in the latest historical series by Lynsay Sands. The moment this came out, I clicked it and bought it. I will say that it took me some time to get to this book. I have no idea why, but I finally read it through my e-reader and couldn't get enough of it. What was most intriguing was seeing these two banter with one another. From their first meeting (Naked Greer swimming in the loch) and boy do sparks fly between these two. We also see quite a bit of depth to the story, and I loved seeing their story evolve in the way that it does.Lynsay Sands is pure talent when it comes to writing romance. I found myself drawn into the story from the beginning, and I found myself captivated by every aspect that kept this story stimulating and packed with plenty of chemistry and action. We have a mystery that comes into play here, and boy this author kept me guessing. I honestly couldn't figure out who the culprit was, and just when I thought I had it, I was completely blown away by the secrets and dangerous aspects that come into play. There is a level of suspense and intrigue. The supporting characters are a riot and cause quite a bit of drama. But not too much, just enough to bring balance to the story. First we have Alpin, who is Greer's squire. And boy he is tenacious like a dog with a bone when it comes to the "rules". He doesn't understand why Greer and Saidh break them all the time. Its quite entertaining, and I love the jests and bantering between Alpine and Greer and Saidh. He almost acts like a scandalized virgin. Then we have the seven brothers....now these brothers are so dang hiliarous and really add the right level of humor to the story. They are way overprotective of Saidh, but they also tend to be a bit harsh in judgments. Which I found quite amusing. All seven brothers are you typical males....but boy I love how Saidh handles them. She knows exactly what weapons to use against them...and it works every single time.The romance between Greer and Saidh is quite a compelling one. They have an easy going relationship. There isn't much angst at all, its more at easy and calm and I was hands down all for that. Because there is a conflict, and so I liked that they just flowed so well together while trying to solve a mystery. They have quite a bit of strong chemistry here, but there is also a close bond to each other on an emotional level. It is quite engaging to have a couple that works in harmony on every level. This is a highly fun romance that is packed with everything that made me fall madly in love with it. Can't wait to see what Sands comes up with next.The CoverSuch a beautiful romantic cover.       Our introduction to the hero is a blowjob scene with another woman, not my favorite but could have moved on if story and main heroine/hero relationship was good...it was not for me....at all.
      By page 80 the hero had given the heroine an orgasm...this is historical romance.

      This is very light on the historical feel, scenes and character demeanor. Our hero talks and thinks endlessly about and with his penis, our heroine ad nauseam mentions that she has seven brothers and that is why she is like no other lady and curses, open with her sexuality and body, and generally acts like a contemporary heroine. I promise, I'm not going to get on my soapbox about modern bent historicals.

      I started severely skimming after the 40% mark but for a book I wouldn't categorize as erotic, my god there was a lot of sex filler scenes.
      If you want to read about a couple speaking in Scottish accents but not get a historical feel, hear about growing up with seven brothers, and simply read sex scenes (I fully recognize there is an audience for this) then this would trip your trigger.

      I loved this book. Lynsay Sands always seems to come up with heroines who don't fit expectations and it makes for a really fun story. We find out early that Saidh has not had the usual girls' upbringing. As the youngest in her family, with seven older brothers, she spent far more time with them than doing girl things. So she learned to hunt, fight, use a sword, ride astride - everything that her brothers did. She also tends to speak bluntly and can curse with the best of them.In the prologue, Saidh witnesses something that her cousin does, but understanding the motivation covers it up. Four years later, while visiting a friend, she hears that Fenella has just been widowed for the fourth time in four years. Worried about her cousin, and the rumors swirling about her, Saidh rushes off to see her. Upon her arrival at the MacDonnell keep, she sees Fenella again for the first time in those four years. Though rather disgusted with Fenella's constant crying, she's pretty sure that she isn't guilty of killing her husbands. When Fenella begs her to stay for awhile, Saidh gives in, hoping to help her through her grief. She's also rather intrigued by the new laird, Greer MacDonnell, who she saw swimming naked in the nearby loch. While she's never been much interested in marriage, something about him rouses strange feelings in her.Greer became laird upon the death of his cousin. He hadn't expected it, as his cousin was a young man. Greer has spent years as a sword for hire, but he is determined to do his best as laird. He has some issues he has to deal with, not the least of which is his late cousin's wife. I don't blame him for staying as far away from her as he can. I also loved seeing him with his squire, Alpin, who at nine years old has very definite opinions of the proper behavior for a laird and has no problem with lecturing Greer about his responsibilities. His first sight of Siadh sends him running because he knows his intense physical reaction to her isn't appropriate, but his first conversation with her leaves him wanting more. I loved seeing Greer and Saidh together. They are so much alike that it is no wonder the chemistry between them is off the charts. Saidh has no feminine wiles thanks to her brothers. I loved her lack of filter when talking to him, and that she doesn't defer to him just because he's a man. I also liked that, while she may be innocent, she isn't naive, and gives as good as she gets when he kisses her. It was fun to see him try to keep control and fail every time. When he realized that resisting wasn't an option, he took steps right away to make sure that her reputation is protected. The arrival of her brothers in reaction to his letter was hysterical, and her reaction was even better. I loved her comments on being "ruined" and how she stood up to her brothers. I loved the growing of their relationship, as it is built not just on their attraction but also on the obvious respect and liking that they have for each other. I especially liked seeing how much Greer enjoyed Saidh's uniqueness.Once the wedding happened things started getting really interesting. Saidh survived a couple of attacks on her, escaping the second one only because of Alpin's actions. No one could figure out why she was being attacked, though her brothers were sure that she had made someone mad. I was sure I knew who it was for most of the book, but then questions were raised about that likelihood. During the last few chapters my suspicions bounced back and forth among several possibilities before finally settling on one, and even then I wasn't wholly certain. It wasn't until the final confrontation that we get the how and why that explains it all. The secondary characters were all marvelous parts of the story. Alpin was really fun with his young boy's view of what was the right and wrong way to behave when you were laird or lady. I loved his running commentary on Saidh's actions when he accompanied her riding. Saidh's brothers were great. Each of them had their own personalities and handled their sister in different ways. Whatever else they did, they accepted her for who she was, even taking the "blame" for how she turned out. I'd like to see them all get their own stories.

      I loved Greer, he could be very accommodating when he wanted to be...."Ye expected me to strip to battle with Ye?" "Jest yer dress. Ye've braies under it," he pointed out. "Aye," she agreed, "But braies do no' cover me duckies." "Duckies?" he asked uncertainly. "Tis what me youngest brother calls me teats," she explained with amusement and was interested to see the flush that suddenly rose on his cheeks as his gaze dropped to the items in question. "I do no' mind if yer duckies are no' covered," he said, his voice almost a growl.This was a great read, I really enjoyed it. The bantering between Saidh, a feisty young woman who can sword fight like a man. likes to ride astride and swears when needed and Greer, the new Laird MacDonnell is such fun in the beginning, he becomes intrigued by her but really doesn't now how to handle his attraction, she is a lady but she does such unladylike things. Saidh begins to feel the same way for Greer and they become close and the chemistry between them really begins to show. When her life is threatened the story becomes a mystery, and a hunt is on for a deadly enemy, and Greer shows his true feelings for Saidh.A great romance which will keep the reader guessing right until the end, I would highly recommend it this story to romance lovers everywhere.
