About this audiobook
A gripping novel based on the astonishing true story of a boy who survived 10 concentration camps. Based on the true story by Ruth and Jack Gruener.
Ten concentration camps. Ten different places where you are starved, tortured, and worked mercilessly. It's something no one could imagine surviving. But it is what Yanek Gruener has to face.
As a Jewish boy in 1930s Poland, Yanek is at the mercy of the Nazis, who have taken over. Everything he has and everyone he loves have been snatched brutally from him. And then Yanek himself is taken prisoner — his arm tattooed with the words PRISONER B-3087. He is forced from one nightmarish concentration camp to another as World War II rages all around him. He encounters evil he could have never imagined but also sees surprising glimpses of hope amid the horror. He just barely escapes death only to confront it again seconds later.
Can Yanek make it through the terror without losing his hope, his will — and, most of all, his sense of who he really is inside?

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Right now I have a big thing for World War 2 books and this book was exactly what I love to read/listen to. At some points it was really sad while others you had no idea what was going on. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is either learning or interested in World War 2. It really gives you a feeling of what concentration camps were like. There where some more violent parts so I recommend that younger children don’t read this book but other then that it was a pretty good book.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5"Prisoner B-3087" is a compelling and deeply moving novel that offers a powerful glimpse into the horrors of the Holocaust. The book, written by Alan Gratz, is based on the true story of Jack Gruener, who endured unimaginable suffering during World War II.
What sets "Prisoner B-3087" apart is its ability to transport readers into the heart of the Holocaust through the eyes of its young protagonist, Yanek Gruener. Yanek's journey from a carefree boy to a survivor of multiple concentration camps is both harrowing and inspirational. Gratz's writing is vivid and evocative, making the reader feel every emotion, from fear and despair to hope and resilience.
The book serves as a stark reminder of the atrocities committed during that dark period in history, but it also celebrates the strength of the human spirit and the will to survive against all odds. Yanek's courage and determination to endure, even in the face of unspeakable cruelty, is nothing short of inspiring.
"Prisoner B-3087" is a must-read for anyone interested in understanding the Holocaust and the indomitable human spirit. It's a haunting and unforgettable story that will stay with you long after you've turned the last page. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Sobering account of a courageous young man. May this and other similar stories never be forgotten or “conveniently” erased from history. Those who fail to learn from the past risk repeating it.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I didnt realize this was a young adult fiction story, but I stuck with it because it was a short read. Well done, I think it would be good introductory material for a high school student.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent. This should be mandatory reading for school grade kids. Parents and everyone should read or listen.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I’ve heard this book was good for “younger” readers to learn about the holocaust in a not totally graphic way. However, I’d say this book is way too graphic for my 4th graders. More appropriate for grades 6+ (maybe, maybe 5th). It’s nonetheless a fantastically written piece of Holocaust literature that needs to be read by all.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book really makes you feel all the emotions that the characters are experiencing
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was an absolutely beautiful book. Alan did a masterful job writing the story and I love the narrator as well. His voice fit the character perfectly. This book sent me on an emotional roller coaster and I would break down in tears thinking of the unimaginable cruelty exhibited. Along with the determination, grit and courage of the main character. I love this book and the feelings of love and compassion for all mankind. All humans have the right to be treated fairly and with love, no matter the race, religion or anything else.
