A snippet of my review. My full review can be found on my book review blog Rundpinne....:Shalvis’ novel is fun, light-hearted, witty and filled with flawed characters and in a fun, lighthearted storyline, which I truly enjoyed sans the romance. "....

if I wanted a book about sex I would have picked up playboy. Dwell way too much on the sexual content than the storyline. Also the authors swallowing got annoying after a while.

I still don't really think contemporary romance is my genre, but I liked the bit of abused heroine in this book, plus her insecure klutzy chubbiness I of course appreciated as well, though it wasn't really enough angst for my taste, or to warrant going on the chubby shelf (barely warrants going on the abused shelf, but it was part of the plot...)

I really enjoyed this book. I kept wanting to come back and read! Jax and Maddie were fun together. Some silly wit but I am just getting to know this author's writing style, and by the end it just ran smoothly. Looking forward to the other books in this series! Definitely glad I picked these up!

This book makes me smile because I have three half sisters myself and I know first hand how they can all be different yet family. I love this story. I think the hero and heroine move kind of quick but I liked the beat after it got moving.

The hotel thing and the think with Maddie's older sister was a bit forced but obviously it was a set up. I can't wait to read the sister's books.

Cute warm story of a couple meeting on a dangerous curve. Maddie fights the attraction but Jax quietly supports her, protects her and listens to her. It takes complete destruction to made Maddie realize she only feels safe with Jax.

Enjoyable story where the strong sexy hero gently pursues the healing heroine. The development of relationship seemed realistic under the circumstances. Maddie inherits an old inn with her two sisters and hopes to renovate it with the help of local contractor Jax.

Goodreads suggested that I might be interested in this book, and some of the accompanying reader reviews were positively effusive. My own reaction was less enthusiastic.

Heroine Maddie returns to Lucky Harbor to look over a decrepit inn and marina that her Deadhead hippy mother left to her three daughters: all step-sisters with different fathers. Tara and Chloe, the other sisters, are all for selling the property and splitting the proceeds, but Maddie feels drawn to Lucky Harbor after several traumatic experiences in the LA movie business.

On her way to Lucky Harbor Maddy almost crashes into a hot biker, and so begins the bumpy story of the sexual and emotional chemistry between Maddie and Jax, another refugee from big-city life.

The first few chapters of the book made for compulsive reading, full of snappy dialogue and chick-lit quips. Sadly the story began to meander and stagnate the further it went. Without the frequent sexual encounters to spice up the narrative, the story of the the three step-sisters' disagreement over the future of the legacy and a number of dark secrets sprinkled here and there, combined with a serious lack of psychological insight into the characters and motivations of the leading characters, resulted in an unsatisfactory run-up to the anaemic happy-ending.

This is the first novel I have read by Jill Shalvis, and it won't be the last. I fell in love with the sisters Chloe, Maddie, and Tara. This story mostly follows the middle sister Maddie as she finds love, and a hot and steamy relationship with Jax. A sexy read for sure.

Jax and Maddie were awesome together and had some pretty amazing moments too. Can't wait to read more about these people. :)

This is the beginning of a new trilogy for Shalvis about three sisters who inherit a seaside inn from their estranged mother upon her death. Together they have to decide what to do with the place, stay and run it or sell it and run for the hills.

I liked a lot about this book. Maddie, the main character, was flawed but lovable. She's always been known as "The Mouse". The one who gets taken advantage of and pushed around. She's tired of that. She decides this move Lucky Harbor is just what she needs to start over. She's going to become a new Maddie. A stronger Maddie. Watching her become stronger and begin to stand up for herself was wonderful. It did bother me that she didn't always deal with her past, though. Instead she shoved it aside and said she didn't want to talk/think about it.

Jax was an outstanding hero (which isn't surprising since Shalvis heroes usually are). He's sexy, loving and capable. He might have a few dark spots leftover from his past, but he doesn't let them rule his life. I liked that he was so supportive of Maddie. He really stood up for her and did his best to help her regain her self-confidence.

I'm still on the fence about Maddie's sisters. Tara grew on me a little bit as the story progressed, but I never really warmed up to Chloe. They both seem self absorbed and bitchy to the extreme, but I'm willing to reserve judgment until after I read their books.

Given the pace I've been tackling the Nora Roberts books, I've been searching for other authors to fulfill my meaty-romance need -- and I was thrilled to find it here. This is the first Jill Shalvis book I've read, so I'm not sure how the others compare, but this was a fantastic light but solid story. Another one that I couldn't put down. I loved the interaction of the sisters, loved the interaction of Jax and his friends. And, of course, loved the pairing. Other reviewers have said that the character of Maddie grated a bit, but I didn't mind her. I liked that she wasn't overwhelmingly confident in certain areas but that there was also a steely core that just didn't allow for anyone to push her over. I definitely agree with those reviewers who loved Jax. I kept wanting to hate him for his too-perfectness (and be annoyed that he was, in fact, so perfect), but I just couldn't. Do I believe that there's anyone quite that nice of a package out there? Probably not. But did I mind reading about it? Hell, no. And Jill Shalvis can write some dialogue! Laugh out loud funny in a couple of places; mostly just wonderful and endearing everywhere else. I was a little surprised at how much sex was going on, both in terms of the characters (quite a lot for Maddie character-wise in the short time frame the book covered) and in terms of the book (not having a huge amount of romance-reading behind me beyond Nora Roberts and Jennifer Crusie, neither of whom is a sex slouch by any means). I can't say I minded it, though. :)I also liked that Shalvis brought in some very non-fluffy issues like cystic fibrosis and pretty debilitating asthma in a respectful and appropriate way, while not overwhelming an otherwise light story. I expect this will play a bigger role in the Chloe-centric book and am curious to see how that plays out. So I will certainly be reading more of the Lucky Harbor series and more of the author overall. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quick, fun, engrossing read.

So, the first half of this book gets five stars for being entertaining and funny with interesting characters and a lovely setting. The second half of the book gets three stars because Maddie started to irritate me somewhat. Overall, a strong four star read.

Jax was amazing! Seriously, he was the type of character that is the reason I read romance. He was pretty much perfect in every possible way. Not to mention he was also hot and wealthy.

I loved Maddie initially. She's klutzy and awkward, which are two things I can completely identify with. I loved her a bit less in the second half of the book, where it appeared that she lost some of her self-awareness. Also, it kind of bugged me that after only two weeks she felt like she had the right to know every single thing in Jax's past (although, I do think he should've told her that he was holding the note on the resort.)

All of the other characters were well-drawn and likable and I thought the setting of the book was absolutely wonderful. I wanted to live in Lucky Harbor. I will definitely be reading more in this series. I believe Tara's book is next and I look forward to it, but I really can't wait to read about Chloe.

Also I love books that spread the Mistletoe liberally and Simply Irresistible did just that :)What I thought of characters/story: Simply Irresistible was such a fun read. I laughed out loud at times and wanted to bear hug the sisters at other times. This was just a wonderful character driven story with a hot romance between Maddie and Jax. Can I just say that Jax was a wonderful leading man: giving, caring, but with a past that he needs to work through. More importantly, he was the first to “get it” where he and Maddie were concerned. I love Maddie but her past was a little more to work through so I am glad it took her longer to get there. I loved the sisters and can’t wait to read their stories and I think Lucky Harbor will be a place that I will love. As I know that I am one of the last to start this series, I am sorry it took me so long! What I thought of the audio: This wasn’t my favorite Audiobook but it wasn’t horrible. The narrator, Celeste Ciulla, did a decent job with the female voices but she was way off with the males. The pacing was excellent and her voice was very clear. Her voices may not bother others as much as they bothered me. My suggestion is to listen to a sample first to determine for yourself.
