About this audiobook
“You can’t do anything… It’s gone too far. You understand, Halleck? Too…far.
Attorney Billy Halleck seriously enjoys living his life of upper-class excess. He’s got it all—an expensive home in Connecticut, a loving family…and fifty extra pounds that his doctor repeatedly warns will be the death of him. Then, in a moment of carelessness, Halleck commits vehicular manslaughter when he strikes a jaywalking old woman crossing the street. But Halleck has some powerful local connections, and gets off with a slap on the wrist…much to the fury of the woman’s mysterious and ancient father, who exacts revenge with a single word: “Thinner.” Now a terrified Halleck finds the weight once so difficult to shed dropping effortlessly—and rapidly—by the week. Soon there will be nothing left of Billy Halleck…unless he can somehow locate the source of his living nightmare and reverse what’s happened to him before he utterly wastes away…

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This ending was really really satisfying to me. A lot better than “the long run”— when it comes to Stephen King endings endings. I was on the edge of my seat for 80% of the book got through it in a day!

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Great book and narration but the never ending guitar scraping sound effects are beyond distracting.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The narration is great and the book is brilliant but the random music throughout drowns out Joe’s voice and just doesn’t blend well.
Overall good but the music may put some people off listening through - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Overall great book. The end was a twist I did not see coming, another great read by Stephen King.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Not a fan of the weird electronic noises they add but good book.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Little confusing but overall decent. Narrator did an excellent job.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The story was good however the ending was a little predictable. Narration was very good but what killed this book for me was the horrible music, and I use that term very loosely, that they played at practically every chapters end.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Pretty good King novel in the usual style. I was a bit surprised to find yet another book of his circled around the topic of weight loss. "Elevated" was a bit lighter, though.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Book is great. Performance is great. Music is trash. No audiobook should include music.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Joe Mantegna is my favorite narrator. A voice for the ages, and with range. This is definitely a recording that I will revisit. King’s story is fresh, dark and rich and pulses as if with a heartbeat of its own. Listen in for a thick slice of gypsy pie.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5an eerie book about something we all typically want to do
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Classic King is the best King.

... - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good book. Joe did a good job as narrator. The music however was distracting and annoying
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Annoying Noise throughout recording. The narrator is very good, however every three to 20 minutes there is very loud and annoying music or just noise it's really horrible and loud. So if you just like to listen to the story you might be jarred every 3 minutes and you never know when.
Ive never experienced anything quite like it. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5good book very entertaining the ending sucks a nice way to kill some time
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5What is up with the sound effects in this. Terrible
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good suspenseful story, not his best but still enjoyable enough
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Such a great storyline. It was really a tale of an individual person's struggle and desperation. And the ending was totally unexpected!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very well read. He painted it while reading the book like watching it on the big screen. I could feel the Erieness as if I were in the story.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Book was great, music in narration was very very annoying.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I really enjoyed Mantegna’s narration, especially of Ginelli (the character he also plays in the movie) but I couldn’t stand the music. It just took the quality way down for me.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Joe Mantegna did a good job, and there were interesting sounds effects.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A very interesting and captivating story. Also. Joe Mantegna rules!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great story. it took me a while to get used to SK's writing style. His characters have bouts of conscience flashbacks that threw me off early on lol. But once I caught up the ride was amazing. better than the 1996 movie.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5listening to the reading was great! The story itself is one that I believe could happen
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Brilliant. The horror of human nature.
Excellent narration. Better sound mixing than Insomnia, i.e., weird interstitial music and sounds but doesn't drown the narrator or make my ears bleed. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5While this novel was amazing on it's own, Joe Mantenga's narration made it even better!!! The music was eerie and went so well with the novel.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Absolutely love Steven King! This book was really good kept me wanting to keep reading!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent…as always
