Who could predict the consequences of making the extraordinary robbery aboard the pride of England's industrial era, the mighty steam locomotive? Based on fact, as lively as legend, and studded with all the suspense and style of a modern fiction master, here is a classic caper novel set a decade before the age of dynamite-yet nonetheless explosive.…

I liked the social history about 19 century GB. It is the closest thing to time travel.

Chreighton does his best when he keeps his characters strong or true to history as with this book

Dickens-esque. Which I wasn’t expecting given that the writer’s books have been blockbuster films in the 90’s. A great story.

One of Crichton's best. I'm surprised that it has yet to be made into a film. As its name says, it goes into detail about robbing a train. Crichton's talent for weaving real world information into the story and shaping character arcs shines here. I was entertained and learned a lot about Victorian England.

This is a great historical novel based on extensive research. Not only is the story really good, but I learned a lot about 19th century England, which turns out to fascinating because of the incredibly rapid changes going on during the industrial revolution. The audio book is very well read.

Historical account of the event. Very little historical fiction. Clear he did his homework; however, I wanted a story and this was a history lesson peppered with what was likely said.
