About this audiobook

An Amazon Charts and USA Today bestseller.

Gina Royal is the definition of average—a shy Midwestern housewife with a happy marriage and two adorable children. But when a car accident reveals her husband’s secret life as a serial killer, she must remake herself as Gwen Proctor—the ultimate warrior mom.

With her ex now in prison, Gwen has finally found refuge in a new home on remote Stillhouse Lake. Though still the target of stalkers and Internet trolls who think she had something to do with her husband’s crimes, Gwen dares to think her kids can finally grow up in peace.

But just when she’s starting to feel at ease in her new identity, a body turns up in the lake—and threatening letters start arriving from an all-too-familiar address. Gwen Proctor must keep friends close and enemies at bay to avoid being exposed—or watch her kids fall victim to a killer who takes pleasure in tormenting her. One thing is certain: she’s learned how to fight evil. And she’ll never stop.

Narrator ruined this book. Robotic reminded me of listening to an "automated reply system" when calling customer service. So incredibly annoying and monotone. Every word painfully pronounced - annunciated.
As for the story itself - Im just not sure. To think this woman was so oblivious to everything and you're supposed to feel sorry for her... is a hard pill to swallow. Then to make it all worse - the first half of the book was painfully repetitive - over and over again - the same thing. Run. hide. Protect the kids. Sadly, it got old very quickly.
I know I will never listen to another book narrated by this lady - and I am still up in the air about the author. I have no idea how this book is rated above 2-3 stars.

Amazing book. The narrator was horrible. At times I couldn't even tell if she was reading inner dialogue or if she was reading dialogue between two characters. Most of the narration was just intense the entire time and could be hard to follow

Original story line of a victim's perspective with clear easy audible narration, which kept my interest right through to the end.

    Great narrator and gripping storyline!

A woman desperate to escape her ex-husband’s crimes finally finds a perfect place to stay long-term with her children. They’re finally thriving, have friends and possessions. Gwen is finally feeling like they can settle and not have to run.

When victim’s bodies have risen up in the lake, the theory is that Gwen Proctor (Gina Royal) and her connection to Melvin Royal is all too similar and too much of a coincidence for her not to be questioned…

Gwen doesn’t know who to trust anymore and she will do whatever it takes to perfect her children.

I note it lists a narrator but if this isn't a computer generated voice I'm not sure what is. Great story but the wouldst reading I have ever heard. What a shame

Lovely voice actor, nice descriptive writing (I felt emerged in the story). I really liked the description of the main character and her family’s situation. I did expect more of the final part of the book, felt a little bit like an anticlimax, not super convincing.

I felt like the end kind of dragged out a little , but over all a good book. The narrator for the audiobook was pretty good. I'd start the sequel but Scribd isn't truly an unlimited service. It won't let me listen to more than like two audiobooks per billing cycle. ( This one only took me two days) Seems like false advertising to me so, I think I'll unsubscribe instead.

This book was phenomenal. It was gritty, suspenseful and kept me guessing until the end. Probably one of the most likeable main characters I've read in a while. 10 out of 5. Looking forward to the next few books in the series.
