HOW FAR DOES THE APPLE REALLY FALL FROM THE TREE?
"A deliberate pace and a skillfully woven plot conspire to create a visceral read that's at once a gripping psychological thriller and a devastating exploration of the damage wrought by childhood trauma." — Publishers Weekly, Starred Review
Good Me Bad Me is a dark, compelling, voice-driven psychological suspense audiobook by debut author Ali Land: "Could not be more unputdownable if it was slathered with superglue." —Sunday Express
Milly’s mother is a serial killer. Though Milly loves her mother, the only way to make her stop is to turn her in to the police. Milly is given a fresh start: a new identity, a home with an affluent foster family, and a spot at an exclusive private school.
But Milly has secrets, and life at her new home becomes complicated. As her mother’s trial looms, with Milly as the star witness, Milly starts to wonder how much of her is nature, how much of her is nurture, and whether she is doomed to turn out like her mother after all.
When tensions rise and Milly feels trapped by her shiny new life, she has to decide: Will she be good? Or is she bad? She is, after all, her mother's daughter.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This really kept my attention -- to a point. It D R A G G E D on. It's as though someone kept the book going just to fill time and just kept repeating the same things over and over. I'm not sure why she had to whisper everything ...EXTREMELY ANNOYING because you would either have to "rewind" or adjust the volume frequently. I also dont get why Millie/Milly (whatever) didn't stick up for herself or other characters. She only seemed petrified by her mother or the mere thought of being around her, why would that make her timid around others?!? She obviously had it in her to harm others or try to protect them, so why did she wait so long? And what would have been the harm or her "outing" Phoebe? We're to believe that Mike suddenly had an epiphany that Millie/Milly killed Phoebe? Why would he? She hadn't given him any reason. Thumbs down, all in all.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is beautifully haunting. My one and only complaint would be that the father was pretty clueless for someone who works in mental health. I think I understand what the author was trying to do but it just served as a minor annoyance instead.

This story was so disturbing and had so much potential. However; it fell a little short for me.
This does have triggers for abuse (physical and sexual), bullying, and child murder.
The parts around Milly and her past were thrilling. I wanted to know more and the more you learn the more disturbing it becomes. However; then you jump back to a game of mean girls at school and it just took away from the story. I was so bored with the foster family stuff in the first half of the book. Yes, there is mean girls, pranks, cheating, and scandals, but they were nothing that caught my attention. I just wanted to know more around the murders and what Milly went through. The second half did start to pick up a little. Everything does come together in the end. I predicted what was going to happen in the end, but there were still some twists I did not predict. I ended up skimming the first half to find out what happened.
I also did not love the ending. Overall, this was only ok.
