About this audiobook

Faking a relationship with an injured hockey player had never been on Eliot's to-do list. When he's sent by his editor at Cocky to interview the newly-out hockey legend Danny Harper, though, he gets a little more than he bargained for.

Eliot has been stuck writing a men's fashion and grooming column that no one reads since he started at Cocky-a men's lifestyle magazine-a year ago. Desperate to prove himself, he takes the assignment to interview Harper, even though he couldn't necessarily hold a hockey stick the right way up in an emergency.

Danny turns out to be nothing like he expected-a lonely man who's missed out on a lot by being in the closet, rather than the overconfident jock Eliot expects him to be. As much as he doesn't want to be, Eliot finds himself drawn to the other man.

When Danny proposes they fake a relationship to improve his image, Eliot jumps at the chance-not only does he need the money, but his curiosity about Danny demands to be satisfied.

With Danny struggling to get through the season on a busted knee and Eliot digging up the story that could make his career, can the two of them admit their real feelings and find their happy ending?

Contains mature themes.

This is a beautiful story but the audio by Joel Leslie is perfect. Easy to tell the characters apart, great pace and an easy voice to listen to.
As for the story, matching a pro-hockey player with a journalist trying to make a name for himself in a fairly new city shouldn’t work as well as it does here. Both MCs are not overly familiar with each other’s chosen career and on paper they may not have a lot in common, but they totally work. The slow growth of their relationship was sweet and the attempts they both make to understand more about each other was really realistic.

Cocky is a fun meet-cute story about a journalist and a sports star. The plot is pretty straight forward, and the mystery is not very complicated, BUT the interaction between the two main characters is really sweet and cute. This story is definitely romance and character driven, which works for it. I found it adorable and enjoyable. The audiobook was also well done and easy to listen to.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. So cute. Their relationship is wholesome the whole way through. A little bit of plot thrown in there for the funsies, but it's basically just romance. These aren't deep characters, just an adorable connection.

Cute story, a bit predictable, not much sex. But Joel Leslie makes anything he reads sexy
