From New York Times bestselling author Roshani Chokshi comes an audiobook set in Paris during a time of extraordinary change--one that is full of mystery, decadence, and dangerous desires...
It's 1889. The city is on the cusp of industry and power, and the Exposition Universelle has breathed new life into the streets and dredged up ancient secrets. Here, no one keeps tabs on dark truths better than treasure-hunter and wealthy hotelier Séverin Montagnet-Alarie. When the elite, ever-powerful Order of Babel coerces him to help them on a mission, Séverin is offered a treasure that he never imagined: his true inheritance.
To hunt down the ancient artifact the Order seeks, Séverin calls upon a band of unlikely experts: An engineer with a debt to pay. A historian banished from his home. A dancer with a sinister past. And a brother in arms if not blood.
Together, they will join Séverin as he explores the dark, glittering heart of Paris. What they find might change the course of history--but only if they can stay alive.
Praise for The Gilded Wolves:
"Leigh Bardugo's Six of Crows and Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code converge in this dazzling new fantasy… An opulent heist adventure that will leave readers voracious for more.” -- Kirkus, starred review

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A really good story, but the narration killed it for me. It felt like hearing the news... Poetic narration would have added so much to the story.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I hated the male narrator's voice. He sounded like a weird robot. It distracted me from the story. The female narrator was much better. This entire book was just ok for me, which is unfortunate because I was excited to read it.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5OVERHYPED. I hated this book. The world building sucked and I didn't care about any of the characters. I almost went into a slump because of it.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It was a good book. The characters were compelling and the world building — although dense at times — was very enchanting and atmospheric. The main issue I had with the book was that the plot was hard to follow at times and, again, the world building/mythology came across as a bit dense and convoluted. A solid first book of a series. If you enjoy older YA fantasies, I’d recommend this book.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This rating is based on the audiobook performances. They literally sound like obits and it’s very off putting.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Slight Six of Crows vibes but everyone expresses their emotions. I adored this book. I had trouble connecting to some of the characters, but the others I really enjoyed and they hold a special place in my heart. The male narrator kind made me feel disconnected from the story though and sometimes it was hard to follow the world building, but I absolutely loved the plot.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Ohmygod, I think I will skip the dude narrator’s parts and read it myself. He is quite good with the dialogue but absolutely bad with the rest!
The lady’s narration is good, though.
I stopped at chapter three, so the rating is not for the book. Is it just me or does it have Six of Crow vibes?
