About this audiobook

“Raw emotion, nonstop action, and relentless pacing makes Backlash another one-night read from Brad Thor.” —The Real Book Spy

#1 New York Times and #1 Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brad Thor is back with his most gripping thriller yet!

In ancient texts, there are stories about men who struck from the shadows, seemingly beyond the reach of death itself. These men were considered part angel, part demon. Their loyalty was to their families, their friends, and their kings. You crossed these men at your peril. And once crossed, there was no crossing back.

They were fearless; men of honor who have been known throughout history by different names: Spartan, Viking, Samurai.

Today, men like these still strike from the shadows. They are highly prized intelligence agents, military operatives, and assassins.

One man is all three.

Two days ago, that man was crossed—badly. Now, far from home and surrounded by his enemy, Scot Harvath must battle his way out.

In the most explosive novel Brad Thor has ever written, page after captivating page of action, intrigue, loyalty, and betrayal will keep you hooked until the very last sentence.

I really liked this book and the narrator did a good job. I felt like I was in the action - although thank goodness I wasn’t. LOL I am looking forward to listening to more work by Mr. Thor.

Phenomenal book that gives a solid glimpse into the tortured heart, mind and soul of an American Warrior, Scot Harvath! Though this story is fiction at it’s best. The reality that many men and women in the intelligence fields do suffer and have suffered, giving all for our great country. I am so glad that this human tragedy was written because the “Real” suffering that many of us feel is never really known. Blessings to you Brad!

Okay action thriller. The dialogue seemed a little clunky, and some of the details given about characters seemed irrelevant, but if you’re looking for fast paced action with a young, patriotic, kick-ass hero, you’ll probably like the book.

Started reading this last night and then promptly stayed up way too late trying to finish it. Exciting, engaging and probably the best book in the series to date!

Good story but nothing special. I've only read a few other Brad Thor novels and have given them all 3.5 stars.Having only read the series sporadically, I wasn't as emotionally affected by what transpires at the beginning (and I'll be rather vague): Several folks who are close to Scot Harvath are killed and Scot himself is captured. Turns out he's taken to Russia to be interrogated. But while being transported, the plane he's in crashes and he makes his escape. A large bulk of the early book is Harvath surviving the freezing environment. One of the characters, Nicholas, is a dwarf. Apparently Thor can't think of many ways to remind us he's a dwarf other than to refer to him repeatedly as "little man." This got old quick. The book's not bad; there are decent survival and hunting-down-(and evading)-the-bad-guy scenes. And the ending is as you'd expect. Again, good not great.
