      This is a cute book that gives a different perspective of the popular series. It’s also very interesting how the dramatic irony shows Greg’s treatment of Rowley and Rowley’s ignorance to essentially being bullied and manipulated.

      I really wish zero stars were an option. What was originally a sweet and fun book series for kids is now endless garbage. I wish my phone hadn’t fallen in the floor while driving and I could have spared myself the hour I listened with my son through this.

      He's really a terrific writer, and what a delight to inhabit Rowley's world for a little bit (especially during these troubled times, as the news is 24/7 Covid-19 coronavirus). I laughed out loud several times, which is highly unusual for me (I like laughing, but most books don't quite surprise and delight enough to initiate it—and I strongly suspect when many others write "LOL" they aren't, not really).

      Seamless integration of text and pictures. Disturbing (and hilarious) view of Greg from someone who's not Greg. And Rowley remains awesome and friendly (and optimistic, hardworking, and kind) throughout.

      (Note: 5 stars = amazing, wonderful, 4 = very good book, 3 = decent read, 2 = disappointing, 1 = awful, just awful. I'm fairly good at picking for myself so end up with a lot of 4s). I feel a lot of readers automatically render any book they enjoy 5, but I grade on a curve!

      Greg Heffley is a huge asshole. The humor holds up surprisingly well, and it's not poorly written. I imagine if I read a bunch of the Wimpy Kid books all at once, it might get a bit tiring though. Greg really is a jerk.
