    Mary Forsberg Weiland lives with her two children in Los Angeles, where she is studying for her certification in drug and alcohol counseling, with a focus on co-occurring disorders. This is her first book. A former editor at Esquire, Lear's, and Good Housekeeping magazines, Larkin Warren was a contributing writer to Addiction: Why Can't They Just Stop?, the companion book to HBO's documentary of the same name, and collaborated with Professor Elyn R. Saks on Saks's bestselling memoir, The Center Cannot Hold, which Time magazine named one of the Top 10 Nonfiction Books of 2007.

      EXCELLENT!!--from beginning to end,its a really good read... relatable if you ever had a drug problem..Interesting either way..

      beautifully written. as someone in recovery myself this was an incredible read.

      This book was very well-written, very intelligent. It was a little distanced from the actual addiction, which is what I had been expecting going into it. Instead, Weiland uses her knowledge of addictions and rehab to put an optimistic spin on her story. She never once bashed her ex-husband, Scott Weiland, which was refreshing since many books by ex-wives are negative. While it wasn't the rock bio I was expecting, it was a very smart and interesting book.

      Spoiled, selfish and vain.
      It's hard to like the author. She basically received fame and fortune on a silver platter with little effort but chose to live the wild life.
      The book is just a big excuse for her bad decisions.

      A gritty, dark, and triumphant memoir. Mary Weiland shoots straight from the heart in telling her story of her drug addiction and living with bipolar disorder.

      Mary ended up in a mental institution after throwing her husbands clothes out and setting them on fire. She suffered from depression and would lay in bed for days. A lot of the time, she didn't even know why she was reacting a certain way. Addiction and depression seem to go hand in hand, so Mary was battling both.It's an absorbing read that hits close to home for me. I too suffer from depression and it is a very difficult illness to live with. I know how brave Mary must be to pour out her life for the whole world to read. She's a strong woman and I hope that her book inspires others to get the help they need.
