About this ebook

“[Acevedo] manages to update vampire lore in clever and imaginative ways.”
El Paso Times

If you haven’t yet encountered Gulf War veteran-turned-vampire private eye Felix Gomez, then now is the time! Jailbait Zombie—the fourth in author Mario Acevedo’s outrageously original dark fantasy p.i. series—pits the undead against the living dead, as vampires meet zombies for a no-holds-barred beatdown. As dark, sexy, funny, and endearingly strange as Acevedo’s previous vampiric excursions—Nymphos of Rocky Flats, X-Rated Bloodsuckers, and Undead Kama SutraJailhouse Zombie is more of the top-shelf bloody madness that inspired Tim “Nuclear Jellyfish” Dorsey to comment that Mario Acevedo “is a very disturbed man—and I mean that in the absolute finest sense of the term.”

This is not a great work of literature - but it is solidly written, has interesting characters, turns stereotypes into something a bit more 3-D. Its a perfect Sunday afternoon read.As for this book in the rest of the series - it doesn't stand up. At times, the plot doesn't make sense in terms of motivation. Things aren't explained (like why the zombies wants brains) but for the most part, these don't matter. Its a book that is suppose to be dark, gritty, and totally over the top.

This was probably my least favorite of these so far. It just never really coheres - there are two mysteries that turn out to be completely unrelated except by physical proximity, and while the zombies are tolerably entertaining for the twenty pages they're actually on screen, the other villain is just cringeworthy. It doesn't move the series along at all, doesn't have a particularly satisfying ending, and is just a little more coated in male-gaze ick than I am willing to tolerate.

Felix Gomez is a vampire detective who investigates a recent zombie appearance. Along the way he meets some interesting characters, including an ill teenager who wishes to become a vampire. This is a well written, humorous, interesting story that takes a walk a bit away from the beaten path. Enjoyable read. I will be looking for other books in the series.

Probably the best of the Felix Gomez novels so far (and with a mad scientist, too). It is refreshing that Acevedo doesn't feel as if he needs to wrap stories up with simply, happy endings. Plus, I l ike that he continues to allow his story to evolve and remembers what has happened in previous novels).

Most recent in Mr. Acevedo's series about Felix Gomez, an undead vampire detective. This one laid plotlines for a even more interesting sequel. Every book has added to the population of supernatural creatures inhabiting Felix' world, this time with zombies. I've enjoyed this series and finished this one in two days. It might have helped that I was busy recuperating from a sinus infection, but all the same this was an enjoyable story.

The fourth in Mario Acevedo's series about Felix Gomez, vampire PI, Jailbait Zombie is easily his best so far, in my opinion. As with the previous books, Gomez is sent out on an assignment by the vampire powers-that-be, this time to track down the source of a zombie infestation in a small Colorado town. Of course, things are never simple and complications quickly pop up.Acevedo's Felix Gomez books are a tongue-in-cheek look at the current urban fantasy/romance trend, and usually have more than a bit of a nod to scifi and horror B-movies. Jailbait Zombie is no exception. There are really good hints of George Romero and Frankenstein and even Reanimator here - ok, more than just hints! All in all, it was just plain fun. If you haven't read the series, start with the first, The Nymphos of Rocky Flats, to get the full effect.
