From Brazil to Italy, from Melbourne to Monte Carlo, life passes in a dizzying whirlwind. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5such a good read, has many layers but it all fits so well together at the end. was a roller coaster, but so worth it!!
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This was a very shallow story. I couldn't get past the first few chapters and stopped altogether when the main character refers to the Petrona Towers as Islamic-looking.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5i read the first couple of chapters of this book but i could not get on with it at all
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The cover (and what a pretty, cheerful cover it is!) proclaims it to be "...summer's poolside reading sorted." Now, I don't have a pool, but I have a garden, and I spent two lovely days in the blazing sun, with a rapidly warming drink by my side, and this book clutched firmly in my hands. I had a lot of trouble putting it down. More than 400 pages, and it was over too damn fast!First of all, I loved the setting. Daisy is part of the catering crew for a Formula 1 racing team, and we get to travel the world with her and the team. All I know about racing is what I learned on Top Gear (possibly not the best source), but the setting felt very realistic. (The author's father was a racing car driver, so she should know, I suppose.) There is just enough technical information about the cars and the drivers and the tracks to keep it plausible and interesting, but it never gets to the point where it tips over to boring.Daisy is a wonderful and very sympathetic heroine. I'm very pleased with the fact that we don't get a huge information dump at the first page, but that we get to know her more and more as the book progresses. Overall, the characters are very well written. I adore Holly, the best friend, Luis, the cocky Brazilian driver, and Daisy's loving Italian grandmother, and the entire gallery of tertiary characters. I was a bit wary of Will, the object of Daisy's affection, at first, but he grew on me.Often, plot development relies on a character turning out to be something completely different from what they appeared to be at first, but thankfully Paige Toon gets by without that rather cheap trick. No one has to turn into a complete bitch, which is remarkably refreshing. And she still manages to surprise me. There were a couple of plot twists that I did not see coming at all! It's a very funny book, the dialogue is hilarious at times, but it still managed to get me to shed a tear here and there. Granted, that's not very hard, but still. If you're looking for something to help you pass a few days in the sun, then I can definitely recommend Chasing Daisy. It was an absolute joy to read!
