50 Free or Cheap Ways to Entertain Your Toddler - Lynn van Lier
Dedicated to my Mother and my Grandma D.
This book is for parents and caretakers of children ages 1 to 3. To me, it is the most difficult age to parent because children this age can crawl and walk, but they’re not very good at it. The have limited attention spans and are emotional mine-fields.
Everyone tells you it gets better (usually when your little one is thrashing on the floor) and it does, but this book is for NOW.
Taking care of a child this age requires patience, engagement, creativity, and a sense of humor. A two-year-old will not spend all afternoon playing with one favorite toy, no matter how much grandma paid for it.
When my child was in day care, I saw that they changed activities every 20 minutes. If you break that down to a stay-at-home day of childcare, that’s 60 activities over a 20-hour day, if you’re lucky enough to get 8 hours of sleep.
Kids grow quickly. That’s the good news. You can do this! This book is here to help.
