About this ebook

This is a very important book. One of the cornerstones of our best friends’ health is good nutrition. Fact is, the health and welfare of our pets has been violated. Many of you will be shocked and even shudder in disbelief when you read this book. As pet owners, it is our decision what we can do for our best friends’ diets; and how we must stand up and hold the pet food industry accountable. Our buddies can’t speak for themselves; it has to be our voice.

    Introduction

    Introduction

With humans, healthy eating is about more than the food on your plate—it is also about how you think about food. However, with animals - our family pets - healthy eating is a choice that we make for them. And we are not doing a good job.

To be fair, it’s not our fault. We have been sold bad information, or more appropriately, no information by Madison Avenue and the revenue making machines that are the pet food manufacturers themselves. Let’s start with the most important piece of information that will put this entire book in perspective:

Dog and Cat Food Sales in 2013: Over $20 Billion.

Once we have this information, it’s easy to see how convoluted this issue can be. From the retailers and the lobbyists, money is going to play an important role in our choices as consumers and, most importantly, as pet lovers who are responsible for the health and well-being of these loyal companions.

Nevertheless, we have probably never given much thought to what goes into the mouths of our furry family members.
