Summary:This is the traditional Cinderella story that we all have heard since we were young kids. It's about a young girl whose father marries an evil woman and shortly afterwards, he dies. The young girls stepmother then puts her to work doing everything for her and her daughters. However, Cinderella's fairy godmother comes and transforms her so she can go to the ball like the other girls. There she sees the prince and falls in love, but she has to leave because when the clock strikes midnight, she has to be back home. Her shoe falls off as she runs home and the prince finds it. This leads the prince on a wild chase throughout the city after Cinderella. He eventually finds her and they live happily ever after.Personal Reaction:Cinderella has always been a childhood favorite of mine and most children. It's the fairy tale dream and kids love a happy ending. I still appreciate this book and the new original artistry in the pictures that this illustrator provided made the book way better.Classroom Extension:1) We could look at the many different versions of this story including versions from other countries and compare and contrast the ways they are told.2) We could design our own ball gowns for Cinderella and Suits for the Prince.3) We could make horse-drawn carriages and talk about how people got around in the olden days.

The classic tale of a girl who goes through the struggles of life as her stepmother orders her around like a maid. She wishes for something better and to go to the fabulous balls that the prince of the kingdom was hosting. With all her wishing a fairy godmother appears who happened to be a little blue bird that Cinderella helped. With the help of magic Cinderella was able to go to the balls catching the eye of everyone around her and the prince. One night she leaves her shoe. The determined prince searches far and wide for Cinderella until he finally found her and they lived happily ever after.

I love the illustrations in this book. It has a classic feeling to the book and the illustrations help draw you more into the book. This book is true to the classic story and I would be delighted to read this book solely because it will help students learn more about folktales but I believe the illustrations will help grasp the students attention as well. Another, thing I like about the book is that the words are in different color frames on each page.

Cinderella is such a classic, and it is my favorite fairy tale book. It is just full of hope and magic. Everyone can enjoy this classic because the story is just great. This version was slightly different from ones I have read, but I enjoyed this one just as much. I would read this book to my students because I think all children should know this fairy tale. If I wanted to do an activity with this book, I would have my students create their own fairy tales.

The classic tale of Cinderella. Mean stepmom and sisters and she falls in love with the prince. Not my favorite version of this tale, but still a classic nonetheless

Cinderella stories have always been wonderful to read. The story is about a humble cinder girl who is bewitched by a fairy who allows her to go to a ball in the most beautiful gown one can imagine where she meets the prince. Both fall in love but the prince and nobody in the country knows that this beautiful astonishing woman is the humble cinder girl. Until she lost one of her golden shoes at the ball and the prince can identify this beloved lady. This story reflects the dream of every little girl. Special about this book are the charming, mystical pictures which give the story even more glamour.

This story is about a beautiful maiden whose father died soon after marriage leaving her at the mercy of her stepmother and stepsisters who treat her as servant. The maiden desperately wishes to attend a royal ball and finds that a blue bird she rescued the day before has turned into a fairy godmother that makes it possible for her to attend the ball. The maiden, after being warned that the spell will expire at midnight, attends the ball and gains the attention of the handsome prince. She attends a second ball where she leaves behind a single glass slipper which the prince uses to track down his new love. I thought this book was absolutely beautiful. The text was a bit long for very young children but the illustrations were gorgeous. Each picture was soft and had the effect of a renaissance painting. I felt like I could look at illustrations alone and understand the story. The text itself was easy to follow and flowed well with the story. The story has the wonderful moral of treating others as you would like to be treated.Classroom Extension Ideas:1.I could ask the children what they think other good morals would be. They can write a list of their own Golden Rules to post in the classroom.2.Each child can draw their own interpretation of a scene from Cinderella which I could use to make sequence cards. I would scramble the cards and the children would try and put them in sequential order.

This story is about a young girl raised by her stepmother after her father passed away. She is made to do all of the housework and chores while her mean stepsisters do nothing. While Cinderella is caring for an injured bird, the Price greets her, but she quickly runs home. After helping her sisters prepare for a ball hosted by the Prince, Cinderella begins to cry. She looks up to see the bird she helped and watches as it magically turns into her fairy godmother. She tuns a pumpkin into a beatiful coach and mice into coachmen and sends Cinderella to the ball in a gorgeous gown, but warns her to leave the ball by midnight. Th next night the fairy godmother does the same thing. Everyone at the ball is enchanted by Cinderella, especially the Prince. At the stroke of midnight, Cinderella rushes home leaving behind a glass slipper. The Prince takes the slipper and has every girl in the kingdom try it on until at last, it fits Cinderella. They are married immediately and ruled the kingdom with kindness.I've always loved the story of Cinderella. I think it sends a good message to treat others with respect and dignity because you never know when you may need them. It teaches the reader to be forgiving. Cinderella's sisters were mean to her, but when she became a princess, she forgave them. I also like the artwork on each page.In the classroom this might be a good story to act out. I really liked the watercolor illustrations in this book. I think the students could each pick a picture and write a story about it. For instance, what was Cinderella feeling while she helped her stepsisters dress for the ball? It would also be fun for the students to retell the story in a different point of view. They could choose a stepsister, the Prince, or even one of the mice.
