- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A sweet story with beautiful illustrations. My kids and I loved it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wherever You Are My Love Will Find You, in my opinion, is a wonderful children’s book. The writing, language usage, as well as the illustrations that are portrayed, all allow this book to send a clear, vivid message of a parents unconditional love she/he will always have for their child(ren). The writing in the story is, nonetheless, for a young child to become engaged in. Nancy Tillman’s language choice is extremely descriptive, as it sends a clear theme of love. For example, “In the green of the grass…in the smell of the sea…in the clouds floating by…at the top of the tree…in the sound crickets make at the end of the day… ‘You are loved. You are loved. You are loved,’ they all say.” Within this quote, you could close your eyes and just imagine the scenery. With that being said, I appreciate the vivid writing and language choice because I know when reading this story to my sisters at bed time they are able to close their eyes and imagine that wherever they are, whatever they see, “They are loved.” Next, the illustrations! On each page of this children’s book there pictures to go along with the text. Furthermore, the illustrations are geared to intrigue an infant audience, thus the pictures are soft looking; the colors are very contrasting; and once again depict the notion of love. For example, on one specific page the text writes, “paint ‘til you’re blue…There’s no place, not one, that my love can’t find you,” and the illustration shown is a person painting a beautiful peacock blue, while there are also beautifully painted red flowers dispersed at the bottom of the picture. Each illustration really is lovely!
