Sarah J. Maas is one of the best authors! The way the characters develop and come together are pure genius! The story is so vivid it just comes alive and I lose myself in the story.
Let’s just say that whatever she writes I WILL READ! If you haven’t started reading this series.....umm what are you waiting for?

Another book I literally could not put down! I read at night before bed and with these book i find myself staying up later and later. She builds the most incredible characters and has the not amazing imagination. I am a fan for life. I might actually cry when the series is over! Hahaha

This book alone is fantastic, very easy and fun to read. Its got romance, action, drama and so so much more. This series as a hole keeps getting better and better. My love has grown for Celina and Dorian as well. Sara J Maas has created this masterpiece of a world and continues to blow me away with how she connects all the books together so smoothly.

Good continuation of the story. I feel like this series is a little weird in that the further I get along in the series, the more I like it.

I loved this book. I was not able to put it down and on the couple days that I did my Boyfriend had to force me to put it down and spend time with him instead of books (I don't understand that. Who would want to spend time with people when there are other worlds you can put yourself in instead lol)

What more can I possibly say about this series. This book continued on with twists and turns and some amazing action. I loved that some romance has come into play in this book between key characters. Several questions have been left to be answered and I can't wait to see where the next book takes the story.

Wow! I made it! What a rush! So much happened, yet so much left to do! While I thoroughly enjoyed this one, the ending left me feeling as if something was missing, I know there is more to the story, and that's likely what it is, but I don't know. It was just missing that little something that could have made it a 5 star book. I love all the characters though, and am ready to brave Empire of Storms! Wish me luck!

A seamless continuation with ramped up action lots of blood-of varied colors and an addition of witches. Manon is intuitively sympathetic right from where we meet her. I'm off to read part five.

I absolutely loved Alein's & Lysandra's cunning, planning, and stealth. I was a bit disappointed in how Celeana's former master met his end but for Alein it would have been like killing her surrogate father; even with everything he did to her. The 13 rock! Manon is slowly learning that what her heritage was built upon was not how things have to be. She really stepped up to the plate and I'm looking forward to her hitting a homerun in the coming books...I think she is the next queen of the wastes. Manon & Alein's fight was awesome, especially the end. I was hoping we would eventually find out what happend to Kaltaine & Roland …and we do in this book. Going forward, I'm worried about what Alein's broken shattered people will think about her being the infamous former assassin. I don't trust Lorcan's intentions. I am very worried for Aedion...will he be required to submit to Maeve through his father's blood bond? Will Alein & Rowan make it or will Alein be required to marry someone else to ensure that her country is safe? Will there be a Dorian & Manon future together? What additional treasures will Elide bring besides what she is carrying in her pocket? So, looking forward to the next book.

The first two thirds of this book moved very slowly and focused on cleaning up Aelin's past life as Caelena, then the plot switched drastically and moved too rapidly switching out the villain too easily. As the court surrounding Aeiln began to form, I noticed the same disturbing trend from the later books in the ACOTAR series: that Maas is "heavily "influenced" by Anne Bishop's Black Jewels series. It's not as blatant as her "borrowing" in ACOTAR (*cough* Illyrians *cough*), but the big ones I noticed are the Fae's "spiraling down" to gather their power, having to learn the "Old Ways," Aedion is reminiscent of Lucivar and his position in Jaenelle's court, Lysandra is a weird hybrid of Surreal and Kaelas, and Rowan is basically Daemon (what is with their preoccupation the female neck?).Maas's writing style is engaging and I do like that she lets us see inside the female characters' minds, much more than Bishop does, but her reliance other authors' characters, magic systems, and world building is troubling. I will continue to hate-read the rest of the series.

Another great entry in the series. The thing about fantasy is that the really exciting parts, the battles physical and magical, the monsters and discoveries all can be overshadowed by a bit of mercy. Aelin has mercy for Manon, and saves Dorian as a result. Aelin gives a cloak to a foe in the dungeon and Kaltin takes out a third of her opponents as she burns through Morath releasing Elide. All this reminds me of the Hobbit where Bilbo has mercy and that ultimately is what saves Middle Earth when Gollum falls to his death in Mt Doom.

Boy, this series has gone on for too long, or this book is too long and there are too many characters that seem to be written in to provide more romance options since Celaena/Aelin appears to be sticking with Rowan for the time being, but I am not feeling it any longer. The writing has gotten sloppy and repetitive with lots of filler. I really dislike Aelin now. She's secretive for no good reason, impulsive in a way that only hurts those around her, and totally immature. Rowan deserves better. Chaol deserved better. I still like the Iron Teeth witches the most, mainly because they bring something different to the fantasy table, but almost everyone else is forgettable or unlikeable.

It is hard to say anything specific about this 4th book in the Throne of Glass series without spoiling things for people who haven't read it yet. It was filled with adventure, danger, and tricky plans. Aelin has returned to Rifthold because she has promised to keep, people to rescue, and people to kill.Parts of the story are also in the voice of Manon Blackbeak who is at Morath with her thirteen and gradually becoming disillusioned with the plans of her grandmother. Also at Morath are Elide Lochan who is a prisoner of her uncle and Kaltain Rompier. Both of whom have magical powers and who are struggling to get away from those who imprison them.I enjoyed watching Aelin develop relationships with both her cousin Aedion and Rowan. I also enjoyed her changing relationship with Lysandra who has been keeping a pretty big secret. Aelin is a young woman who is coming into her own powers both with her magic and as a ruler. While many plot threads from earlier books were tied off in this one, there are still questions to be answered. I can't wait until the next book to learn what happens next.

Near the end I had caught up with what was going on but it did take a while. Celaena Sardothien or Aelin is back in Rifthold and she has to deal with very complicated politics, some of which involve people she cares for and may not be able to save, some involves people she doesn't like but may come to care for and some involves revenge for long-standing woes.Interesting, possibly better read closer to the previous book.

This is the fourth book in the Throne of Glass series and I have to admit that I’d forgotten about it! I waited impatiently for it to be released and then when it came out in September, I attempted to download it (I listen to this series on my Audible account) and found that the file was too big for my device. I tried to download it again in January and same problem so I forgot about it! I rediscovered it last week and have been listening to it non-stop ever since.I love this series. If you haven’t read Aelin Galathynius’s adventures in the previous books, you really should. It’s a series that should be read in sequence (although you probably could start in the middle and get the gist of the book). This is high fantasy and my favourite genre. It is also a “grown up” series: expect lots of suggestive scenes and violence.Besides having characters that are easy to relate to, Maas shifts points of view enough times that you aren’t lost with so many characters in the cast. As the POV shifts, the reader feels much closer to the each of the characters and their individual motivations.Having said that, Aelin Galathynius, the lost Queen of Terrasen, is definitely the protagonist of this series. And she continues to play that role in Book 4. It is refreshing to have a high fantasy protagonist who is a strong, independent female and that’s one of the things I love most about this series. But even with the shifting POVs, I love how Maas continues to surprise the reader throughout this series. Generally, by the time I get to the fourth book in a series I’m starting to get bored but Throne of Glass continues to deliver. At the same time, the fourth book ends with some closure and not on a cliffhanger. There is trouble brewing and the reader knows there will be more but for now one can sit in the calm of the storm and enjoy the fact that the beloved characters are all at a place of peace (despite how surprising it might be as to where they have ended up).Maas once again delivers with this book. If you love high fantasy, the Throne of Glass series is not one to miss.

Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen, returns to Adarlan to rescue her cousin Aedion and revenge everyone who hurt her, from Arobynn King of the Asassins to King Havilliard of Adarlan. She'll play her role as Celaena Sardothian as needed, but Aelin's nearly ready to bury her alter ego for good. She has plans, and freeing her cousin is just the beginning.Friendships, romance, betrayals, fighting and political plots - this series has had all of it, and the fourth book brings all the elements together to craft a long but compelling read. I don't really want to say much because the unfolding of Aelin's plans is superbly done, but I will say this: Thank goodness the love triangle is permanently over. Also, I very much appreciated that though there's clearly more to come in the future (six books are planned as I write this), there is no maddening cliff-hanger like in book 3. September and book 5 cannot come fast enough!

Okay. So first thing first... this is my fav book in the series so far. I think that Mass' writing is improving.

Also, I'm really starting to appreciate Manon's character now, I used to always skim ever so slightly over her scenes.

Even though he is a bad person, I was very sad when Arobynn died, I really wanted him to be redeemed in some way. Also, the twist on the (now ex) King being not actually evil etc. did shock me.

    This was good. Amazing. Shocking.

And Rowan x Aelin... I'm still unsure on my ships. VERY unsure. But meh. Canon will go on.

    Recommended!

This series just keeps getting better. I love the developing romance plot line in this book, but love even more that the romance doesn't overshadow the real plot. The storyline continues to develop in a way that keeps you hooked without feeling like Sarah J. Maas is just dragging it out to get more books. Its super well developed! I also love that after almost 2,000 pages in this series, the characters still havn't gotten stale. They continue to grow and be easily relatable, but there are also a peppering of new characters to grow to love with this book!

This one just might be my favorite so far, there's just something about it... I love where it's going and the side-story (is it really though?) about Manon and the Blackbeaks is a nice touch. I had to tell myself NOT to start reading the next book right after I finished the last page, I need to savor it a bit. However the next afternoon I was done savoring and ready to read Book 5! I'm so happy I have THE WHOLE SERIES!!!!!!!!!!

First off, I should point out that yes, this is book four of the series, and I've read none of the previous three. Also, there's a good bit of Grimdark about this, with everyone doing or having done awful things, and mostly willing to do more awful things. And at the end, we have a resolution to the story within this book, but no resolution of the larger issues, and much more bad stuff to come in future volumes.

So, really, at some point, I should have been overcome with the desire to throw it against the wall, except for two things. One, it's the audiobook. Two, I loved it.

Aelin Galathynius, rightful heir to the throne of Terrasen, has quietly returned to Rifthold, the capital of the bitter enemy who killed her family and conquered her kingdom. She wants revenge on the King of Adarlan, but he's not the only target of her vengeance. She was hardly more than a child when she fled her family's killers, and she's just nineteen now, but she's packed a lot into those years. She trained as an assassin under Rifthold's king of the assassin's guild, under the name Celaena Sardothien. Part Fae herself and possessing Fae fire magic, she traveled to the Fae lands and learned the use of her magic there--and made a valuable friend in Prince Rowan. She's back now to rescue her friend and cousin General Aedion and her friend Prince Dorian. She needs to know if Chaol Westphal, captain of the guard, is still a friend. She's been through horrors, she has done horros, and she has more to face and do before she can hope for anything vaguely resembling peace.

This is a dark and bloody story, but I like Aelin, Rowan, Aedion, Chaol and his second, Nesryn, and Aelin's old rival Lysandra. Along with the darkness and blood, Queen of Shadows has romance, male friendship, female friendship, and male-female friendship, all treated in adult, satisfying, compelling way. Because, as I mentioned, I've read none of the previous three books, there's a lot I was trying to pick up as the story went along, but Maas salted in enough background in unobtrusive ways that if I didn't always know exactly what was going on at first, I was picking up enough to enjoy continuing to listen.

    Highly recommended.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from Audible in exchange for an honest review.

There was a lot of character development in this fourth installment. And more romance than I was expecting. But a very good installment. I went through the book faster than I thought I would. A lot happened and yet at the same time I feel like not enough happened for the length of the book, if that makes sense. It does feel like a transition book, which is probably why there was such a good chunk of character development. I think there is two more books planned for the series, so some of these loose ends can be taken care of. There was a couple of loose ends that were answered here, big twists.
