    FOREWORD

With Tender Hand is a straight forward yet gentle look into a subject so pertinent to our society today, the subject of Domestic Violence and abuse. Women from around the world suffer by the millions in every culture from the various forms of abuse whether it is physical, mental, emotional, or sexual. The majority of them suffers in silence with no support or advocate and carry the inner hurt most of their lives. Often the emotional wounds and scars on the heart last far longer than the outward marks of physical abuse. Pastor Ruth Joy Capozzi addresses this all important issue not only from a Pastoral view point but also from a very candid and open personal experience. She not only gives solid advice to other victims of abuse but approaches the subject with Godly wisdom as well. She goes beyond the role of victim and shows the way to others who have been victimized. She introduces the reader to the Heart mender who is none other than Jesus Christ, who can and will bring hope and healing to those who read this book. I am sure that almost everyone who reads this book has suffered from abuse or knows someone who has suffered or is currently suffering and suggest that the reader pass it on to bless someone who is in need of encouragement and healing.

It is my honor to recommend Ruth Joy’s book. Her testimony and life experiences will help you to have the necessary weapons that have divine power to demolish strongholds. You will learn how to turn defeat into victory and reverse problems that have held you in any emotional or physical soul ties. You will be set free from constantly beating yourself up and rediscover your self-worth. In her book Ruth Joy helps you to overcome shame, guilt, wrong choices or blaming someone else for all your problems. Instead you will be as she is a person of joy, generous, kind and full of assurance that you are everything in Christ and nothing without Him. Be blessed as you read this book and discover as Jesus said You will know the truth and the truth will set you free. John 8:32.

    PREFACE

With Tender Hand was birthed in my heart on February 16, 1982 in morning worship at Pilgrim Camp, Brant Lake, New York. It is a morning worship that I will remember all my life. I have stretched out My hand of help this morning, and it is being given to every one of you. Take the help of God. Reverends Gordon and Caroline Gardiner were ministering in prayer to various ones in the room when these words were spoken. Shortly before they were spoken I had a vivid picture in my mind’s eye of Mr. Help, the Lord Himself, stepping into the room with His hand outstretched. It had a deep impact on me at the time, but I had no idea how much I would need God’s hand of help throughout the years that followed.

I know that there are many women silently suffering with abuse issues and are fearful and unable to move forward. I pray that as you read these pages, Jesus will meet you where you are and that you will allow Him, With Tender Hand, to lift you to higher ground.

I would not have written this book without the persistent and patient encouragement of my dear husband, Alfred Capozzi, who has always been sure that I could and should write it! I thank God for Alfred’s life and love.

I am thankful for my praying mother, Ruth E. Kalis, whose love and prayers have blessed and benefited my life every day; good days and bad days alike. I thank my brother Philip for trying to help me in some of the darkest days when I did not know where to turn. I will never forget his kindness. I thank my brother John for indirectly getting Dr. Dobson’s book Love Must Be Tough into my hands. It was his way of loving me. I have come to appreciate over time what a privilege it was to have godly and loving parents who
