AmericanAcademyofEnvironmentalMedicineRecommendationsRegarding ElectromagneticandRadiofrequencyExposure
PhysiciansoftheAmericanAcademyofEnvironmentalMedicinerecognizethatpatientsare beingadverselyimpactedbyelectromagneticfrequency(EMF)andradiofrequency(RF) fieldsandarebecomingmoreelectromagneticallysensitive. TheAAEMrecommendsthatphysiciansconsiderpatientstotalelectromagneticexposure intheirdiagnosisandtreatment,aswellasrecognitionthatelectromagneticand radiofrequencyfieldexposuremaybeanunderlyingcauseofapatientsdiseaseprocess. Basedondoubleblinded,placebocontrolledresearchinhumans,1medicalconditionsand disabilitiesthatwouldmorethanlikelybenefitfromavoidingelectromagneticand radiofrequencyexposureinclude,butarenotlimitedto: Neurologicalconditionssuchasparesthesias,somnolence,cephalgia,dizziness, unconsciousness,depression Musculoskeletaleffectsincludingpain,muscletightness,spasm,fibrillation Heartdiseaseandvasculareffectsincludingarrhythmia,tachycardia,flushing, edema Pulmonaryconditionsincludingchesttightness,dyspnea,decreasedpulmonary function Gastrointestinalconditionsincludingnausea,belching Ocular(burning) Oral(pressureinears,toothpain) Dermal(itching,burning,pain) Autonomicnervoussystemdysfunction(dysautonomia). BasedonnumerousstudiesshowingharmfulbiologicaleffectsfromEMFandRFexposure, medicalconditionsanddisabilitiesthatwouldmorethanlikelybenefitfromavoiding exposureinclude,butarenotlimitedto: Neurodegenerativediseases(ParkinsonsDisease,AlzheimersDisease,and AmyotrophicLateralSclerosis).26 Neurologicalconditions(Headaches,depression,sleepdisruption,fatigue, dizziness,tremors,autonomicnervoussystemdysfunction,decreasedmemory, attentiondeficitdisorder,anxiety,visualdisruption).710 Fetalabnormalitiesandpregnancy.11,12 Geneticdefectsandcancer.2,3,1319 Liverdiseaseandgenitourinarydisease.12,20
