Course Contents For QT-(1)

1. Statistics, Key concepts of statistics, types of statistics and its presentation, Business statistics and its importance in decision making, Classification and Tabulation of Data and its diagrammatical and graphical presentation, Measures of Central Tendency such as Mean, Median and Mode and their significant properties. Measures of Dispersion, Skewness. 2. Correlation Analysis: meaning and its types, properties of correlation, methods of studying correlation, rank correlation coefficient. Regression Analysis: meaning and its uses, regression co-efficient and its relationship with correlation co-efficient, properties of regression co-efficient, regression lines and regression equations. 3. Probability Theory: basic concepts and approaches to probability, conditional probability, independent events, some basic theorems on addition and multiplication, Bayes Theorem and its application. Probability Distribution: random variable and its types, probability mass function and probability density function, Mathematical Expectation and its properties, Problems based on Binomial, Poisson and Normal Distributions. 4. Sampling and Sampling distribution: methods of sampling, Sampling distribution of a statistic and its standard error, Sampling distribution of the mean, proportion and for difference between two means. Hypothesis Testing: Tests of significance, Power of a test, Large samples and small sample tests, application of Z-test, t-test and F-test. Index Numbers and its methods of construction.
