State Trooper Suspected of DUI in Fatal Turnpike Crash An off-duty Pennsylvania State Trooper is suspected of driving under the influence following a fatal accident last week near Upper Dublin, Pennsylvania. Trooper Barry Searfoss, of Coatesville, has been placed on restrictive duty following his involvement in the crash. Searfoss was driving his own Toyota pickup truck westbound on the Pennsylvania Turnpike when he rear-ended a Lincoln Town Car. The Town Car, driven by 21year-old Robyn Williams of North Philadelphia then burst into flames, fatally injuring Williams. An autopsy determined the causes of Williams death to be multiple blunt force trauma, burns and smoke inhalation. Following the crash, Searfoss underwent field sobriety testing, and was later taken into custody and processed for DUI. Searfoss has not yet been charged with a crime related to the crash. State Police and the Montgomery County Attorney are currently conducting further investigation including toxicology reports, accident reconstruction and thorough examination of the vehicles. In addition to criminal liability for the crash, Searfoss may also face civil liability for his alleged negligent conduct. Williams survivors may bring a civil lawsuit against Searfoss for his actions in causing Williams death. If your or someone you know has suffered serious or fatal injuries in a DUI car crash, you may want to consider contacting a personal injury attorney to explain and protect your rights.
