Exploring the theme of Conict in chapter 3 of Lord of the Flies

Hexagons challenge? SOLO and the criteria to put on the sheet? Students matched them. Example rst? Connectives for multi structural and relational. Some of the verbs? In the rst column? HOT maps to choose from or hexagon? Pre-Structural: I know there is conict in these chapters but I'm not sure how to discuss it. Uni-structural: I can describe the way characters argue in the chapter. I can use simple quotations to illustrate this. Multi-Structural: I can identify different types of conict between the characters (eg. personalities, priorities). I can show how the way the characters speak reects this. Relational: I can identify and link reasons why different types of conict happen. I can analyse how conict is reected in the language used by the characters and in the narration. I can analyse how these conicts shape the narrative and build tension. Extended Abstract: I can analyse how the theme of conict is developed in the chapter. I can analyse and evaluate the ways in which the author's use of language, form and structure reects the theme and shapes reader's reactions. I can relate this to the "bigger picture", ie. the context of the novel and the writer's intentions in writing the novel. I can select an appropriate range of textual evidence to illustrate and extend my points. I can structure my discussion in a logical sequence, going from accurate overview (generalisation) to specic examples. I can predict /hypothesise about how the theme is likely to propel the narrative. Words for the Hexagon Challenge:
