Activity No. 2 Observing Living and Non- Living Things I. Introduction: How can we tell if something is alive. Life maybe hard to define, but it is often easy to recognize. Each individual living thing is an organism. Although various kinds of organism look and act differently, they are alike in important ways. To stay alive, all organisms carry out activities called life processes. Now living things cannot carry out all these processes. II. Objective: To observe and record similarities and differences between fish and a candle flame. III. Materials: Live goldfish in water Pencil Paper Candle Matches IV. Procedure 1. Make a data table like the one shown to record your observations of the living fish and the non-living candle flame. 2. Light the candle and place it near the fish bowl. 3.
