Field Trip Policy All field trip approval forms for the year must be submitted by September 14th.

Please submit all possible trips and cancel any of them later if necessary. Simcoe County District School Board procedures are to be followed regarding all Field Trips, Educational Visits, Student Travel, Canoe Tripping, Field/Co-curricular Trips. Please refer to the school website when planning any field trip as detailed information and forms are located there. Day Trips Teachers planning field trips are asked to follow this procedure: 1. If you have discretion as to the date of the outing, check the calendar in the appropriate vice-principals office for a date that does not conflict with other events 2. Complete a Field Trip Form 3. Submit the form to the department chair and vice-principal for signatures well in advance to the trip for approval. Note: final approval for field trips that involve an overnight stay is given by the Principal. If the trip involves travel on water, international travel or is more than 3 days in duration, final approval is given by the Superintendent 4. Collect a signed permission form from every student participating in the activity 5. All money collected from students must be submitted to the main office where its amount, form and purpose are recorded. a. Please ensure that all cheques are made payable to Nantyr Shores b. Submit all monies collected on a daily basis to the office (no cash, cheques, and/or money orders are to be left overnight outside the main office) Any funds required to be taken on the field trip, for example, entrance fees, will be organized with the main office. The main office will issue these funds in the appropriate form to the teacher organizing the field trip or recommend the use of the P card. This is to be done prior to the field trips departure. 6. Compile the following for the vice-principal: a. Copies of all forms and information related to the trip b. Timed itinerary/agenda including phone numbers 7. Students are expected to comply with the schools Code of Conduct while on field trips. 8. All trips start and end at the school. Students may request they do not wish to return on the transportation provided by the school. They must have signed parental permission on file in the main office 24 hours prior to the event with the approval from administration 9. Students who are fully licensed and are 18 years or older, may be permitted to drive by themselves to certain activities. In no case will they be allowed to drive other students to or from the activity. A note must be given to administration at least 24 hours before the event. Note: No student under 18 years of age is permitted to drive. There are no exceptions to this. 10. Complete team and bus lists indicating all students who are on any bus must be submitted to the attendance secretary 11. Teachers who are having parents or adult drivers drive students must have the volunteer drivers name recorded and approved by the Principal, as well they must have a current criminal record check. Students who drive with a volunteer driver must have a permission from a parent 12. Teachers who take a field trip to a location and find that a student is missing at the start of the return trip must contact a member of administration before making a decision to return to school without that student regardless of whether this is during or after school hours. All day field trips must be cleared by the department chair and approved by Administration. Trips must not be scheduled during the moratorium. A list of students to be absent for the field trip must be submitted to the attendance secretary prior to the trip leaving.
