AAR Uganda carries out a deworming and tree planting exercise at St Marys College

Lugazi.

Kampala Uganda -17th June 2012.AAR planted over 28 trees of which most of them were fruit trees. The visit to St Marys College Lugazi by AAR did not only include rolling out our Trees for Health Programme at the school but also carry out a career and health fair for senior five candidates. There was also a deworming exercise for the entire school. Over 1500 students of St Marys College Lugazi turned up for the deworming exercise on Sunday. St.Marys College Lugazi is the second school to benefit from the Trees for health programme after Ntinda Primary School. The Trees for health programme for Uganda was launched on Friday May 18, 2012 at Ntinda Primary School which is also near our Ntinda Clinic. This event saw children involvement in the planting of trees guided by officials from AAR Uganda and Ntinda Primary school.AAR Uganda is fully involved in more environmentally viable community activities with the aim of improving living conditions of communities and initiatives that foster a healthy environment. Trevor Ariho, AARs PRO says One of the ways the Trees for Health programme is achieved is by directly involving schools, communities, teachers and children, in the tree planting process right from hole preparation to care and management of the tree, hence an environmental conscious generation. Dr. Lugolobi Stephen, AAR Bweyogereres Health Centre manager who led the AAR team called upon everyone in their individual capacity to set a target of planting one tree this year in their community.
