The report is based on the summary of two bi-annual child rights situation reports titled 'Our Storybook.' Children monitored child rights situation throughout all 64 districts of Bangladesh and systematically organized and analyzed collected information to produce biannual reports.
The research revealed that in regard to civil rights and freedom, birth registration has shown significant progress but 6 % of the people of Bangladesh are yet to be registered. On the other hand, Supreme Court’s declaration on corporal punishment as unlawful indicates government’s willingness and pro¬ activeness to improve the situation. However, evidences on number of incidents of corporal punishment that took place in 20 I I, indicates that along with the legal measure, mass awareness of people on the issue of corporal punishment is also essential.
