ABSTRAK

Rhodamin B merupakan pewarna yang dipakai untuk industri cat, tekstil, dan kertas. Zat warna ini dapat menyebabkan iritasi pada saluran pernapasan dan merupakan zat karsinogenik (dapat menyebabkan kanker) serta rhodamin dalam konsentrasi tinggi dapat menyebabkan kerusakan pada hati. Rhodamin B merupakan zat warna sintetis berbentuk serbuk kristal, tidak berbau, berwarna hijau, dalam bentuk larutan berwarna merah terang berpendar (berfluorescensi) . Berdasarkan PERMENKES RI No.376/MENKES/PER/VIII/1990 dan PERMENKES RI No. 445/MENKES/PER/V/1998 tentang zat tertentu yang dinyatakan sebagai bahan berbahaya termasuk rhodamin B yang tidak boleh dipergunakan untuk pemakaian kosmetik jenis lipstik, eye shadow, dan rouge. Sehubungan dengan hasil temuan Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan RI Jakarta pada tahun 2008, telah ditemukan 27 merk kosmetik yang mengandung bahan berbahaya diantaranya adalah zat warna rhodamin B yang digunakan sebagai salah satu pewarna termasuk juga pemerah pipi (rouge). Berdasarkan hasil temuan Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan RI Jakarta tersebut, maka penulis melakukan pemeriksaan zat warna rhodamin B pada sediaan pemerah pipi. Pemeriksaan kualitatif rhodamin B dilakukan dengan Kromatografi Lapis Tipis (KLT) menggunakan fase gerak n-butanol:amonia:etil asetat (55:25:20) yang memberikan hasil positif jika menghasilkan noda berwarna merah muda bila dilihat secara visual dan memberikan fluoresensi kuning bila dilihat di bawah lampu UV 254 nm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari pemeriksaan kualitatif enam belas sampel yang dianalisis yaitu Wardah (sampel kode A), Avon (sampel kode B), Cherveen (sampel kode C), Sutsyu (sampel kode D), Chanel (sampel kode E), MAC (sampel kode F), aubeau (sampel kode G), Louvre 1 (sampel kode H), Cosmic (sampel kode I), Sutsyu 2 in 1 (sampel kode J), Silvie Lowrens (sampel kode K), Louvre 2 (sampel kode L), Siellas (sampel kode M), Implora 1 (sampel kode N), Implora 2 (sampel kode O), Aich (sampel kode P), tidak ada yang mengandung Rhodamin B, yang berarti pemerah pipi yang di jual di sekitar Kota Medan sudah aman dari rhodamin B. ABSTRACT

Rhodamine-B is a coloring agent used in paint, textile, and paper industry. This coloring agent can cause irritation in respiration tract and is a carcinogenic (cancer-causing) substance; also, rhodamine in high concentration can cause heart damage. Rhodamine-B is a synthetic coloring agent in crystalline powder form, odorless, green in color, and in liquid form has bright red fluorescence. Based on PERMENKES RI No.376/MENKES/PER/VIII/1990 and PERMENKES RI No. 445/MENKES/PER/V/1998 about certain substances stated as dangerous, including rhodamine-B, which must not be used in cosmetics type lipstick, eye shadow, and rouge. Based on the recent discovery of Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan RI (Republic Indonesias Drug and Food Administration Bureau) Jakarta in 2008, there were 27 cosmetic brands containing dangerous substances, among them were rhodamine-B used as one of the coloring agent as well as rouge. Based on mentioned discovery, the writer conducted an analysis of rhodamine-B coloring agent in rouge preparations. The qualitative analysis of rhodamine-B was done with Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) method using nbutanol:ammonia:ethyl acetate (55:25:20) as mobile phase, which gave positive result in form of spot with pink color if observed visually, and with yellow fluorescence if observed under 254 nm UV lamp. The result of the research showed that from the qualitative analysis sixteen samples analyzed, which were : Wardah (sample code A), Avon (sample code B), Cherveen (sample code C), Sutsyu (sample code D), Chanel (sample code E), MAC (sample code F), Aubeau (sample code G), Louvre 1 (sample code H), Cosmic (sample code I), Sutsyu 2 in 1 (sample code J), Silvie Lowrens (sample code K), Louvre 2 (sample code L), Siellas (sample code M), Implora 1 (sample code N), Implora 2 (sample code O), Aich (sample code P), there were no sample containing rhodamine-B, which means that the rouge preparations sold around Medan are safe from rhodamin B.
