EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The main objective of NAFTA is to remove all trade barriers between the governments of the United States, Canada and Mexico create a trilateral trade bloc in North America. NAFTA is developed with a view to enhance business and trade relations between these three countries and promote conditions for fair competition and increase in investment opportunities. The aims of this project is to analyze NAFTA fully from the time of its formation to the present time and increase cooperation between these three countries for improving working conditions in North America, create an expanded and safe market for goods and services produced by establishing clear and mutually advantageous trade rules. Thus NAFTA has created the worlds largest free trade area by eliminating tariffs and agreements on international rights for business investors, increasing trade and capital and spurring growth in business. The present President of the United States opposes many current trade agreements, which he says are bad for the economy because they provide perks for businesses, but does not protect workers and hence he would like to amend NAFTA to beef up protection for labor and the environment.
