An Overview of the Extension Project Initiated by the Department of Political Science Through the efforts of Atty. Felicidad C. Gadiano

An extension project of the Political Science Department (now in collaboration of the Filipino Dept, CASS-EC, GenEd Program & IIT Coop)
This extension project was initiated by Atty. Felicidad C. Gadiano of the Political Science Department. This is a project that encourages the children of the scavengers of the basura in Barangay Santiago to continue their studies until they finish the elementary level. The children are provided with notebooks, pens/pencils, crayons and other schools supplies, with a raincoat/umbrella placed inside a school bag. The project has been in existence for 5 years now. The last distribution was June of 2012. Other than school supplies, this project has provided livelihood supplies for the scavengers and Christmas gifts (rice & other grocery items) during December of every year). Brgy. Santiago is Iligan Citys main dumpsite for all of the citys waste.
